One of the many great things about the Kermit Cams is we get to hear the sounds of the aircraft, no some hokey music. Thanks Kermit

When I worked at the Sikorsky test facility in Jupiter, an S-38 dropped in for a visit, the zebra-striped replica I believe. I remember the twin rudders and twin engines. Remarkable aircraft, right down to the wicker passenger seats.

Love your vids, Kermit, but why didn’t you show the engine start? All of us grounded, ran out of money, armchair, flightsim pilots love to see engine starts… What you did right, however, is to NOT play a bunch of crappy music over the sounds of the aircraft! Bravo!!

God I love this aircraft. Out of step with the times. Slightly? archaic, inefficient, loud and noisy, in need of on going tender loving care? . I have a lot in common with it. 😅

I swear...flying back in the day, landing at home base was always to soon. How can something that feels so good be ended so soon. Even after she's tucked away in the hangar, keep looking back to make sure she's still there. IFR YUP.

Are you restoring the PBY-3 there? I noticed she was taken apart. Fond memories of that one, seeing it out on the tarmac when my grandpa took me to Fantasy of Flight as a kid. one of the many aircraft I could go up and touch in your collection, that spurred a love for all things aviation.

I have an Aviation question. How do pilots avert obstacles ( antennae, power lines and such), flying entirely low altitude, besides just visually? Considering inclement weather, clouds, mist. (?) Are there FAA "maps" identifying such obstacles? TY in advance. 😊
@danielgriffis975910 ай бұрын
@Sweetpotato456 Thank you for the information. That's pretty much what I concluded prior. Yes, I was also considering low altitude flying to a new-to-you locale. Thank you. And thank you, Kermit Weeks.

Did you fly this plane back in 2003 in the Golden age of aviation National Tour Sept 2003? I remember seeing it and I have pictures of it when it was here in Des Moines Iowa. I remember the pilot arguing with the gas truck guy because the gas truck guy was telling people to stay away while he fueled the aircraft and the pilot saying come on over look at the plane :)

I'm still waiting for a large check from the Publisher's Clearing House to buy me a toy like yours. I was hoping that destination would have been a water landing to savior the gravy that only these old amphibians can deliver. It looks like a gentle flyer with a nice slow landing speed. Amelia Earhart picked the wrong kind of airplane. With one of these she might have survived to fly another day.

how would you like a monster seaplane? that used to belong to pan american. they claim there are none left however a guy i know in idaho on a private lake has one think it is a pan american clipper. his grandfather bought it just before they scrapped it. been sitting half in the lake and half out for over 70 years. he told me a week or so ago he wants to get rid of it. he said he does not know what it is worth. i said well i think it is the only one left in the world ,, probably several million. do not donate it.he said he had no intention of donating it.when i went inside it is all original no leaks. it is also covered in ahuge ass tarp if interested let me know
