game knights has much more going on for sure.. Its all in the hours upon hours of editing and animations, with after action interviews. comander vrs is simply a game played from start to finish with some commentary at the end. i love them both but game knights pulls ahead with the production value

Hi, Josh and Jimmy. Just saw this episode and wanted to give you my most favored way to combo off. I like storm, i really do, but since i once played my Melek EDH deck, and went to a twenty minute combo turn, i had to change something. All my opponents were tired just looking me going through my library until i finally killed them all in a single turn. It felt great for me to assemble a combo that lets my cast nearly every card of my deck, but since the win was only clear to see after 15 minutes or so, i had a bad feeling abount my opponents. Now is still play combo and still some kind of storm cards. The big difference now is that i set up the win during doing my thing. Usually cards like Sphinx-Bone Wand and Guttersnipe do that job very well for me. With those cards its pretty easy for me to win within going for my strategy like spellslinging. I can still choose to not play them and try to go the long way, if i'm in a playgroup that is open to let me play my turn for several minutes, but since most groups won't, winning some games is now a side effect for me, because i don't actuelly need to win, but rather play for a hugh turn. With Guttersnipe, Aetherflux Reservoir, or Sphinx-Bone Wand i'm no longer tempted to do so, because my opponents dy faster than i can play most cards of my deck. P.S.: thank for all the different content and highly deep analysis, as well as etiquette (good social behavoir) you present us every week. This podcast is constantly improving, highly professional, informative and very entertaining. You're the best ;)

I like having incedental combos in my decks. The only deck I have currently built is Krenko, which abuses the commander tax rule, by getting a haste enabler, Skirk Prospector and a critical mass of goblins to make "infinite" goblins.
@Y0utube5ucks7 жыл бұрын
I have 4 decks, Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Derevi Imperial Tactician, Kami of The Crescent Moon, and Krenko Mob Boss. Krenko is still my favorite hands down, nothing better than dropping Purphoros with a few gobbies on board and then tapping the Boss. :) I just got a Hall of the Bandit Lord/ Mass Hysteria and they have been fantastic so far.

The only combo I use in EDH is the Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood combo in my Kambal, Consul of Allocation deck. While it's in there, I generally don't go for it too often being I don't have ways of cheating it out. I like having the combo option, but I also like having fun in EDH

Build a jank combo deck for a way to test the water in other peoples decks. I play Mardu fling tribal for this purpose, it’s a do nothing deck. pay life to draw cards, discard a lot for recursion then go infinite out of nowhere and kill the table or gain a million life. But I never kill everyone, I kill one a turn or kill them when they attack me. It will let you watch people play and see what speed their decks are, also shows how willing they are to sandbag removal for when it’s necessary. That’s how I choose what power level to play at for the night. These games last 30-40 min usually before my $40 en-kor jank kills everyone. Then we play for real lol
@bryanbonar7 жыл бұрын
I am a combo player, but I like to feel like my combo success was "earned". an example of this is I recently built a Niv-Mizzet storm deck, but I am avoiding some cards like Omniscience or Paradox Engine because once Mana management is no longer an issue, the chance of my combo fizzling is very low. I enjoy the feeling of getting there, and if I can't fizzle, getting there is a given.
@Phoenix69Evolution044 жыл бұрын
I get what you mean. I'm a Johnny at heart, but I don't like "I get these cards, ok, i win." I prefer to just go a lot rather than go infinite, for instance Mayhem Devil and Silverclad Ferocidons.
@kylecarson33187 жыл бұрын
I've only built one combo EDH deck. It's Sliver Queen. The deck requires at least four cards and has Recruiter of the Guard as the only tutor. There are multiple options of each of the four kinds of cards I need for the combo. Four cards for infinite tapped slivers. Five plus cards to end the game while comboing.
@semi-decent18447 жыл бұрын
I don't usually play combos but i love super synergies. My most recent deck is a Rosheen Meanderer deck and there isn't any infinite combo but my main win condition is fireball and firecat blitz and it is so much fun.

Hey I was thinking about making a Rosheen Meanderer deck got any advice? is she a fun commander to use?
@jonahmatso19207 жыл бұрын
I tried to build her. I personally did not enjoy her. My deck was hard to balance, and most games ended in me either winning on turn 7 or just not doing anything. You should build 5 color zada. Now that is a fun deck. Either play Tazri (She tutors for Zada) as your commander or play Scion of the Ur-Dragon (Grabs mirrorwing dragon). My favorite deck I have ever built.
@semi-decent18447 жыл бұрын
I really enjoy it because of how explosive it can be and I am running a very budget version so the actual power in my deck is not super high but I have a token sub theme that fits my meta really well so I find it fun to play.

A combo i like is a creature with indestructible and World Slayer. If you can get it to connect you'll create a situation where your opponents can't win anymore. You'll just keep swinging and destroy their stuff and slowly kill them all, until someone topdecks a Swords to Plowshares and gets that off on their turn with that one land they can play... and then you Spell Pierce it.
@omgoblins7 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed this video. I have been working on a Sydri EDH deck which was about 80% similar to yours as I was trying to do cool stuff with Salvaging Station as well. I was really happy to see this episode and have definitely added some things from yours. I wasn't into the heavy combo even with Salvaging Station but it looks a lot of fun. Flayer Husk.. omg so good. I wanted to say, the whole time I was thinking you should just drop green and add red with Akiri, Line Slinger as your other partner. I know it was a deck restriction, and it obvi worked with the W ;) but yeah that would give you access to some awesome stuff like Breya, the daretti's, slobad, goblin welder, etc.

interesting deck tech guys, would like to see what was going on with the Titania deck since we didn't really get to see it in action. also, the best way to do the salvaging station + lotus bloom combo is with March of the Machines or Karn Silver Golem and Master of Etherium to keep the lotus bloom from dying once it's a creature. then make infinite mana :)

@MrZoichi7 жыл бұрын
I'm kind of a combo player. I like them, and I like the thrill of assembling them and going off, but I also don't build them into every deck. I usually go for heavy synergy first and then add in a combo if I think the win conditions are lacking; I also keep my combo as 3 or more cards so that they can be interrupted/disrupted and a bit harder to assemble.
@nathanmarcano31717 жыл бұрын
I have only one infinite combo in my Infect deck, and that is turns. Ezuri, Claw of Progress (which I will state now is probably the best of the 2015 Commanders because U/G is so strong, he has a relevant creature type for tribal decks, and +1/+1 counters really do counter infect [Pun intended.]) at 5 XP counters, with the Sage of Hours, so long as no one has instant speed removal, you just go ham. Even then, I've only gotten it to work about three times in well over a hundred games at this point. My tip would be to not make the combo the win condition, but an alternate win condition so it appears less threatening. Because it is in Infect, no one is looking at the dorky mythic 1/1.
@ericmcconville91877 жыл бұрын

For a combo to be fun for me, all the combo pieces have to be synergistic without the other combo pieces. For example, I would like Revilark+ Karmic Guide in Alesha because both of those cards are super synergistic but I wouldn't enjoy Anefenza + Murderous Redcap because those cards aren't that synergistic with what that deck does.

I've found a happy middle ground with infinite combos in my Roon deck. I only play one tutor (Tooth and Nail) which makes my games more varied and my infinite combos in the deck are Eldrazi Displacer + Peregrine Drake for infinite mana or Eternal Witness + Ghostly Flicker + Peregrine Drake for infinite mana + every card in my graveyard back in my hand. I try to only go for infinite combo if a) I have a nutty god hand where I can win very early, b) the game has on for a long time and I want the game to end so we can shuffle up and play a new one, or c) a player has a commanding position and I have no way to disrupt them other than go for the win myself. I used to play a lot of tutors and it made for pretty boring gameplay, so I added a lot more card draw, a few counterspells, and some more toolbox creatures and now have a ton of fun playing the deck again!
@fierna94267 жыл бұрын

I like decks that are not centered around combos. The only deck of mine that has "several" endless-win-combos is my BW Kambal deck with basically Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood in it ("several" because there are several cards with the same effects). If i happen to draw them or only can win through this combo, then I'd tutor for it (I only use Diabolic tutor - the others are too expensive for my taste) otherwise I just take the effect of the respective other card and be happy about it. Hence it is a lifegain deck it got some cheap winoptions like the Aetherflux Reservior and Felidar Sovereign (Which i dont like, the reservoir is fun tho) but my most beloved combination is Sanguine Bond + Debt to the Deadless (XWWBB every opponent loses twice X life and you gain as much life as lost this way) which basically kills 1-2 people right away. For example, X=6/7 (which is not very unlikely) and everyone loses 12-14life and then i can make someone else lose another 36-42 life. This deck is a lot of fun, but it generates a lot, and I mean A LOT of hate from basically everyone else :D not that they dont want to play against it, they just hate on it (constantly killing my commander for example)

It would be interesting see someone play tribal deck in Gameknights. I have maked Sliver tribal deck is funny to play and once it is get shroud + indestrucbility and extra protection to mass exiles. Other good combination is deathtouch and when sliver attacks it makes one damage to target player or creature. I know some people "hate" playing against sliver deck, but to me edh is place where i want everybody play how they want to play. To me slivers represent perfection and perfected unity. One is all and all is one.

I play a highly degenerate Daretti deck where the main combos are Mind slaver lock, or Nim's Death mantle, Krark clan ironworks, and Myr battle sphere. There are times when I just have to end the game with Blightsteel though. The only house rule we have (thus far) is that Iona is banned.

I think you're misinterpreting what he's saying. He clearly talks about needing a sac outlet with this combo. You seem to think he's suggesting it's a 3-card combo, which he says there are no 2 card ones and it's a 4 card one and mentions you need the sac outlet of Krark or Ashnod's (to gain mana). He's not relying on the Star to sacrifice itself to go infinite.
