Silence SE01+ Pillion Rideout, Can It Do That?
This time I take the Silence SE01+ out on a afternoons run to see what its like riding with a pillion.
We make a cafe stop and also a very nice pub in Bickleigh.
We also stop off and I ask my son (Jed) how he feels about riding pillion on the bike.
Silence S01 Plus electric scooter is a sleek and efficient mode of transportation designed to provide a quiet and environmentally friendly riding experience. Here is a description of its features and specifications:
1. Design: The S01 Plus boasts a modern and stylish design with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. It is built with high-quality materials, combining durability with an elegant appearance.
2. Electric Motor: This scooter is powered by a robust electric Hub motor that provides smooth and silent acceleration. The motor delivers ample torque for quick acceleration and ensures a comfortable ride.
3. Battery: The S01 Plus is equipped with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack. It offers an impressive range, allowing riders to cover significant distances on a single charge. The battery is removable, facilitating easy charging and replacement.
4. Performance: With its efficient electric motor and advanced battery technology, the S01 Plus offers excellent performance. It can reach a top speed suitable for urban commuting, typically around 25 to 30 mph (40 to 48 km/h), depending on local regulations and with the "push to pass" button you will get 68MPH. Don't judge thought , This is also a very suitable scooter to ride on national speed limit roads.
5. Range: The scooter's range varies depending on several factors such as rider weight, terrain, and speed. On average, the S01 Plus can travel between 60 to 80 miles (96 to 128 kilometers) on a full charge. However, it's important to note that the range may vary in real-world riding conditions.
6. Charging: The S01 Plus supports fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged quickly. The exact charging time will depend on the charger used, but typically it takes around 3 to 4 hours to fully charge the battery or 7 hours is realistic I found.
7. Features: The S01 Plus comes equipped with various features for convenience and safety. It may include a digital display that provides information such as speed, battery level, and trip distance. Other features may include LED lighting, regenerative motor braking, and a comfortable seat.
8. Noise Level: As the name suggests, Silence scooters are designed to minimize noise pollution. The S01 Plus offers an exceptionally quiet ride, making it ideal for urban environments where noise reduction is important.
9. Eco-Friendly: Being an electric scooter, the S01 Plus produces zero emissions during operation. By choosing an electric scooter over a traditional Dino oil-powered vehicle, riders contribute to reducing air pollution and carbon footprint.

This video was made while I had the Silence S01+ in my possession for 4 weeks. I didn't give you much of an intro so here it is! I rode out to the Cafe and pub with my 13 year old Jed... I was impressed how will the scooter performed with a pillion. Thanks for watching. Drop the video a thumbs up would be appreciated. I mention this scoot is 7k but infact they are selling for £6195 now as of Jan 24. Have a good week 🍻👍

Our pleasure! Thanks for watching John. The whole switchover is already a severe pain in the behind! The price of electric being car or bike is still too much for what you get out of them. Although I think it's the future, government and industry will make it a very rocky ride I'm sure....I'm not looking forward to what is ahead TBH

Me too, I'm concerned humans will mess it up though... Resale in the second hand market will be complicated, and the price to buy at the moment is still too high for the popular types of bike that people want. If they can get the stuff out the ground cleaner and ethically then its great. Flip side is there are many advantages to electric as you know and it gives something different 👍🍻

Interesting to hear your opinion on the Silence scooter, ER. Being an old time motorcyclist the idea of an electric machine doesn't light my candle but, I suppose, it seems to be the future. A lovely afternoon out with Jed there Dave and your enthusiasm for the Silence really came through. I could totally see myself justifying the expense if I had a daily commute and that scooter had sufficient range for the job. It would quickly prove to be cheap and most importantly enjoyable transport. Unfortunately, like you, I currently have no need for one, so as much as I would like one, the price is just too high for it to be an unnecessary purchase. The torque of an electric motor is definitely a major advantage if you have to ride a scooter with a pillion. On an ICE scooter in this category you would definitely feel the pillion slowing you down. A nice scenic ride there Steve and it was nice to see you out and about with Jed and I'm glad he enjoyed the experience. I hope you and the family are all healthy Steve. As for me, well I think that I am slowly getting better but it is definitely taking a while this time around ! Cheers mate, love to the Exmouth crew from la belle France ❤, chat soon ! Garry & Ruby

An electric scooter makes more sense than the bigger 20K + bikes. Commuting, short cafe runs, why not? We've certainly considered electric options having an excess of power produced from our solar during the summer. Well done to your lad for getting in front of the camera.

You guys tour a lot so it wouldn't work ,althugh it could be another way for Carol to commute to work I guess... still ,the pennies don't add up I guess. Shame ,I do really enjoy electric for different reasons than I enjoy the ICE bikes. In another 20 years I think it will come into its own a bit more a when the top 4 start pulling out the stops.

Definitely a good run and a good test of the capability of the Silence SE01+ Power/Torque is never an issue for these electric vehicles, they always make me smile and chuckle when they take off. You're right that's a beautiful road, need to get down there sometime. I fully agree that going forward I think these are the future of commuting, if you're just going around town/city or going from town to town for work then I don't think you could argue against one of these (or any other electric option) Love the interviews with Jed, nice to get the second opinion. He's right those pillion pegs are really short, very dainty almost. The biggest issue I have is cost of repairs/breakdowns etc, obviously as demand get higher, resources will get more obtainable but for now it's very scary how much I'm sure it all cost. Respect your honesty mate, can't say I'm sold yet on the electric stuff just because of the way I ride however I'm not in denial, these bikes are coming and I do think the majority of bikers could really argue against it. Great video mate, very informal and very eye opening. Hope you and the family are well bud.

Thansk RB...Yes relevant points you make there... Thing is with breakdowns is that there are very few moving parts...no crappy gearboxes or dual mass flywheels, oil changes etc etc...its just the battery lifetime that needs to be considered over all and general stuff like brake pads and alike... I bought one as moped. It does 50-55 km/h. It is perfect. Live a bit in the country. Have 0.6 km to the stores and around 15 km to three city's. It is perfect for me. I charge it less than once a week. Just love it. I can not understand kids that would prefer a gasoline driven moped before this one. It is so fast in acc, and no services and oily shit. Soundless and the charge is enough for most daily trips. More than enough for me. Love it. I have a silence S02 4kW and the only thing i do not like is the front suspension. It is like a toy thing. Have claimed it. But the newer models have much better suspension. I am satisfied anyway.

It only the slow charging that would put me off a bit, I’m already an EV driver, so electric holds no fears, as I have been for two years. I’ve tried an Energica Ribelle, which was superb, but over £20k new. Another couple of years development with a range of about 150 miles and hour/ hour and a half charging at a charging station and that’s pretty much enough for me.

Hi 👋 watched this on Sunday but its taken me this long to think of a comment that wasnt full of "yes but..." It was undoubtedly a smooth, quick, peaceful enjoyable ride. And you got around a fair bit on your day out. If they could bring the price down to £5000 something, it would be an excellent local bike.😊 Now, just to make people think. There's no such thing as Net ZERO. The Net is their get out clause. It means they can do what they want first and then make us use something "green". They are struggling to produce enough renewable electricity for the ever burgeoning number of households. How on earth will they produce enough for the far greater number of vehicles? I suspect the electricity used for them will be far from green. Still, they look fun though.😁

Think I said before I had the SEAT version of this and hated it. Two up was the worst my wife said after one ride she wouldn’t get on again as it was so uncomfortable, maybe that one is better with the adjustable rear shock. They look like they have a shock missing with just one on the right side. That one normally retails at £8k not £7k if I went down the electric scooter route again I’d probably get a second hand BMW C Evolution they have one on Autotrader at a BMW dealer, only 3500 miles with the two year BMW warranty. In the meantime I bought the C400GT and love taking that out get over 200 miles on a tank, very comfortable with all the usual BMW extras including a heated seat and my wife likes riding on the pillion.
@exeterrider
@exeterrider 8 ай бұрын
Hi mate yes I remember you mentioned that...Seat made a total balls up of the scooter when they could have done well out of it....From what I hear from others the suspension was awful on previous models but this SO1+ was really good and they had put a lot of investment into the rear shock so it was really very good. At the time of filming they were selling this for £7100 but now on the website its showing as £6195 OTR which to be fair is much better and about right all things considered. The BMW C-Evo was hands down the best electric I have ever had a play on...infact its much better than the CE01 ...The new one they have now and its a shame they stopped making it TBH. Not tried any BMW ICE scoots yet,but I can imagine they are good. Thanks mate

A few good points there E.R. and from a commuter point of view this should be the answer to a lot of todays traffic congestion problems. My last job commute was 14 miles there plus of course 14 back 6 days pw so I would be charging 2 or 3 times pw just for work and a weekend ride, local, not too difficult. I`m retired now on a fixed income so price would be a consideration, and I think a Honda Forza - ADV, possibly at around 6K would get my vote. 200 plus miles range per tank and refillable in 2 minutes for another 200 miles. A good Korean 399cc scooter retails about 3.5K. E-V`s have to bring their price down. Also, the elephant in the room,.... when talking with your lad he mentioned the good for the environment argument, but he and the others with the same ideals must understand, that power has to come from somewhere, and at the moment it is oil or gas fired power stations, not just that magic power point in the corner of the garage, imagine the draw on our grid if every other household was charging a vehicle. Just my thoughts there, but I would like to know, what the range would be for 40-60mph constant riding like i used to have for most of my commute.

On trying to sell it loads of garages have just said there are NOT going to take it and have refused to touch it. He's had one place that's made a reasonable offer but that's after 18 months, after 3 years I think he'd get almost nothing.
