This is my favorite song of theirs and the fact that Steve wrote it makes it even better. Love this! xx

What a wonderful romp! A joyful noise in this sometimes dark and far too serious world.

What an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS voice. You could NEVER assemble a greater group of musicians.

Historically accurate - more than most history books and definitely more than Longfellow's poem - and it was written by Steve Martin, this just may be my new favorite song. Awesome!

This is great! No comments about cultural appropriation or racism...just a great folk song about American heritage, skillfully done, and decent comments...

I heard these guys a few years back at HSBG in San Francisco. I knew Steve Martin had used a banjo in his comedy act many years ago (I’m 73 now). So I wondered what was up. When he and the Rangers took the stage I knew a new era in bluegrass had begun. I’m still listening to Me And Paul Revere at least once a day. Caroline, too. My mother came from West Virginia and folks tell me my voice still carries traces of that old American accent. Thanks guys for carrying on a brilliant piece of “Americana.”

Over here across the pond in England Ive only just caught up with the Rangers though knew Steve M and his banjo playing talents but together they are superb. I too have listenned to them every day. Would be great if they would come to the UK and Europe. As a venue promoter Id be honoured to arrange a concert. Mike King

Speaking of a new era in Bluegrass, you should also check out Molly Tuttle, and Billy Strings.

All these New Yorkers see great music. And NY produces great music. But it is especially a treat to me to see guys like SCR from a somewhat remote part of Southern Appalachia make hipsters in New York feel and love music like this.

oh, reminds me of us in Afghanistan, 3 different Nations ,just sitting around, humming away, guitars coming out & jamming , songs from all , then an American Pilot came out to join us with a Banjo !! Well, the party was on !! One of the Canadians, from Nova Scotia, tuned his instrument , a Mandolin ,up to the Banjo Player & AWAY WE WENT TILL DAWN !! OH !! WE KI-YIED !! WE SANG OURSELVES HORSE!! It was heard & ECHOED !! all over Camp!! and NO SHUT DOWN !! I think those in the Hills,watching us, they thought we were Crazy , but we were'nt !!.. Then the Mandolin Player , took a 3 min. rest , & Tuned his Mandolin , to sound like the Bagpipes !! As God is my witness on this One , the Banjo Player tuned his Banjo ^ It was EERIE !! But , AS THEY PLAYED , The Sounds Echo'ed across Camp & up to where We Knew they were watching Us.. The Bagpipes played on a Mandolin &THE Banjo Joining in !! ~~ I will Never forget that as Long as I live !!

Who ever thought about the horse Paul Revere rode before this. Brown Beauty? Why not. But lets not forget about the other riders that let the word out that the British are coming. History is wonderful thing if not forgotten...

Does anyone know what kind of camera is being used by the guy behind Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, and the guy at 5:57? The latter one is orange and looks like a giant cassette tape - I don't know if it's an iPhone cover and he's using an app, or if it's a special kind of camera. Can anyone help me?
@TheLadyTudor5 жыл бұрын
Ha! I just found the link on Google - it IS an iPhone case! Does anyone know what the camera app is that both guys are using to record with? I absolutely LOVE that old 38mm look! Also, does anyone know what filter was used for the bigger cameras they used for close-up shots of the guys playing? That late 1970s/80s look? Thanks to anyone who has any information!

@robertbrugh84265 жыл бұрын
Tom thx As the Good Lord Almighty knows Hollywood needs 1. And if theres just 1 lonely soul there then might just give a flicker of hope. Always thought Steve Martin was a kanac along with Bill Murray. maybe im wrong.

I think he is a great soul. His love for the banjo has to attest to it.
