I have this case. I agree, the cage above the PCI slots are bad design and I also removed it for convenience. Also, it may be a good idea to flip your PSU so the fan is pointing toward the vent on the side of the case. Yours is pointing toward the CPU. I understand your PSU isn't modular so that may be a PITA to adjust.

@mrcoins9473 I am not actually sure what direction is preferable for the cooler systems overall. I decided that PSU should blow the air out of the case too, especially because the vent on the side will restrict the flow a lot for this PSU with big vent opening.

Do you have a link to the SFF cables that worked for you in the end?

11:30 You didn't install the two screws at the top. The right way to install a exp card is first to remove the top 2 screws, and remove that "block" from inside. It has nothing to do with the screws at the exp slots.

@@fishelectronics 😁Nope, but it's on my shopping list. Preparing to build my first NAS.

@@fishelectronics You can find an official build guide if you google this: 君名创达零夏壹度12盘位NAS机箱安装视频教程 , at 2:40 of the guide video.
1гб вроде бы норм, но когда делаешь например установку по сети игры весом 100гб то понимаешь что 1гб Линка очень мало. Поэтому либо агрегировать ещё сетевую карту либо ставить 2,5 Гб сеть либо sfp 10гб

I admire the build, however I would recommend using a hardware Raid controller rather than an HBA. The main benefit is that data can be recovered even after a system failure as the drives are managed by the controller and presented to the operating system as a single addressable LUN

I stopped using hardware RAIDs a long time ago when ZFS became a part of FreeBSD. With hardware RAID, you have a higher chance of losing data compared to using RAIDZs setups.
@codybarrow4036Ай бұрын
@@fishelectronics I have not tried using ZFS yet but have heard good things about it. I will very much consider it for my NAS build which is underway now. Thank you for the input.

@@fishelectronics BSD has always been a challenge for me so I look forward to seeing guides related. I haven't checked if you have any videos yet regarding setup.

@codybarrow4036 No, I don't. It doesn't fit video format. Such information is better to present in a written blog article.

Agree with @fishelectronics - whatever NAS system you put on top, it will provide full capability for data redudancy. This removes the dependency to any specific HW RAID controller. In addition. most redundant software file systems don't like RAID controllers 🙂
