10:26 they removed the "im sorry" part because it would imply that marry is forgiving james out of guilt and not out of genuine forgiveness

@@kewldude23xx interesting, didn't know about this. Devs confirmed this in an interview or something? It makes sense, though I was personally ok with Mary showing sometimes conflicting and paradoxical feelings. And I still believe that doing so simply had as a side effect to remove the most touching moment of the original letter, both in terms of message and delivery.

Really good video man, I just took a look at your channel and was surprised to see this is only the third video you've made! Honestly the pacing is spot on, no point lingers for too long and your choice of footage is great to boot. Keep this up man I know you'll find success with this channel, you're doing everything right here and you've got the tone down perfectly. Subbed and liked.

As a fan of both games. I liked the longer “dungeons” in lack of a better term.

Yeah me too! The only one that dragged on a bit too long in my opinion was the prison. But maybe it was just because it was so frightening that I wanted to get out of there 😅
@JackChurchill10123 күн бұрын
For me, I loved the long dungeons, but for newer players or for non-passionate gamers, I think it's a mistake to make the first half so much longer. The set up is "you know nothing and are looking for your wife" and then spend four or five hours just running about before it's brought up again.

Nothing is perfect, but some things get very close. SH2 is as close to a perfect psychological horror story driven game as it is possible in my opinion. The remake does it justice though. That's as good as we could hope for.

I mean i like both the og and the remake equally there is things i liked more in the og and more things i liked in the remake... Anyways no game is perfect.

Totally agree! And it's often the curse of remakes: the idea that the original is untouchable or was perfect, blinded by our nostalgia.
@CHRISMED2Ай бұрын
SH2 was way better remake than the RE2, 3, Capcom changed way too much design ,music, characters , settings, story. SH2 was basically old SH brought into the new age
@RetroToHeroАй бұрын
Yeah I understand! Also depends a lot on what we expect from a remake (very loyal, or a "retelling"). I'm open to both depending on the game, so I actually enjoyed a lot RE2R et RE3R in terms of gaming experience. But yeah, I think Bloober had a much more challenging task than Capcom here.
@kosmosycheАй бұрын
Yeah, Bloober were surprisingly very faithful to the original. They added and changed some stuff, of course, but it all fits very well with the spirit, the themes and atmosphere of the original. You can tell, this is a remake made by the fans of the original game, who tried to preserve the essence of the OG game respectfully and faithfully. This is why I'm totally for them remaking the first and third entries in the series, maybe even fourth. They've proven they are worthy.

RE2 was more of a reimagining which was cool. A different version of the same story, Look how they changed Mr X, it was different in a cool way

There is apparently an issue with the source code of the original Silent Hill 2 being "lost" back then... but it's true that it can be dealt with if enough ressources are put into it... maybe Konami figured a remake was more worth the effort?

@@RetroToHerosource code was not lost, Konami just didn't care. The Enhanced Edition team found the source code, it's there

Cuz they're just stupid. (And also the source code got lost or something yay) ((emulation is our only choice))
@mrmellon514125 күн бұрын
Because a remake takes more care to pull off properly (which they did) and a remaster is a lot easier and more money hungry because they can just slap in some new textures, clean up some code, and boom they can sell a 20yo game at full price. Plus they tried "remastering" SH2 and 3, and we got the HD Collection from it, and that was ass and a half

Comments like these are so fucking stupid. What will you say when someone who played both comes along? I played the original on a real PS2, I loved it. It's one of the most important games of all time to me. It was one of my top 3 games. This remake is fucking good. That's all I can say. You can't just hunker down on your opinion like it's fact and then pull out shit like that. Plenty of people who love the original agree they were wrong about this remake and that it was way more than what was expected. I made the mistake of just viewing the cutscenes of the remake, and finding things to dislike about the models, acting, and minor changes. I was livid that the gross room was missing from Angela's boss fight. When I actually played it though, I was in absolute horror and shock through that entire section in the remake, and it was a moment of amazment when I realized they didn't remove the flesh walls, they just EXPANDED THEM and integrated them into a chase. I was pissed at the butchering of Angela because of the actor and face change, until I saw that boss fight. Point is, I used to see remake James and feel rage. I actually gave it a chance though, and it immersed me in a way no game ever has.
