Man, the VA for remake James puts a lot of emotion into his pained yelps and groans. The way his voice cracks when he's stomping that bug for example. I mean, it makes sense. James' not a trained combatant, just a dude caught in a nightmare.

Everything else is a big plus, except disabling film grain. Remember: the original SH2 was literally the first game to purposely utilize the noise filter, to both add "lost footage" style moodiness to the visuals and to reduce the typical "CG"-ness of the graphics. Now, if only we could have a classic camera-angle mod...

Film gran is an abomination. If I wanted film grain, I'd watch a damn film.

True. And I'm very disappointed that they missed such a signature quality of the game.

I can't see the difference, maybe it would be clearer with a side by side comparisson.

The Chromatic Aberration in this game isn't really noticeable unless you stare at objects from a distance or look really close. It is more obvious when playing vs. watching compressed videos though

Oh yeah i hate chromatic aberration. First noticed it in alien isolation.
@AustinWigley2 ай бұрын
Works super well in that game because of the amount of time you spend looking at CRTs and through glass lenses (like the windows or inside of a space suit). Random games have no business using it, but it fits really nicely into the world of Isolation. Especially in VR.

@@AustinWigley Random games? Chromatic aberration is a natural effect of cinema lens
@AustinWigley2 ай бұрын
@@liskeke yes which looks very good and convincing if you're looking through a material diagetically and not so good if you're just standing on a foggy path IMHO, but I suppose this is a very subjective opinion about what looks good or works well.
@liskeke2 ай бұрын
@@AustinWigley Yes. I think it's just a stylistic choice that often doesn't need a justification. Some games benefit from it practically more.. but it's just another creative layer if it's not too on the nose. Pac-man would even look cool with it

Is chromatic aberration the blurry contrasts the leaves had in the fog?
@playdwr2 ай бұрын
do you mean the black glow when moving in the fog next to characters?
@Xathian2 ай бұрын
The blurring you see around leaves and such is an artifact caused by DLSS ghosting. Either disable DLSS or install DLSSTweaks and use it to force the game to use preset E or F (whichever looks better for you, compare them)
