Laura have a lot of heart for an eight year old girl. Mary was alone alot when james wasnt visting her and laura was her companion and friend during those hard times. Mary mentioned silent hill alot when she was with Laura. Laura didn't mind Mary apparance either. When Mary was discharged Laura missed her alot and went to silent hill to find her. She is very bratty but she is also a loyal friend.

Her tensing up when James mentions her parents is a good touch. So is him calling out her bratty behavior, for that matter.

A lot of people dont know how Laura made it to silent hill to begin with. It was Eddie who gave her a ride in his van to silent hill. He was running from the police without a clue on where to go until he bump into Laura who told him she need to go to silent hill which indirectly gave eddie a place to go as well where the town ultimately get to him in the end.

Yeah, the way James handles Laura, who at first was just a bratty kid he never met, makes me understand what Mary saw in him and why she loved him so much. And how differently he could have been otherwise

Agreed, we can argue all we want about if James deserves redemption or not. There are definitely good arguments on both sides. But one thing we can all agree on is that Laura deserves a good home with a loving parent

@@msbroomstick1 When I saw that ending I didn’t thought James deserved to just go home. But, you mentioning that he should be the one taking care of Laura makes all sense. Taking care of her means taking care of someone that was important to Mary, so it’s like a redemption. Kinda makes more sense now that they are leaving together.

The scene when James hands Laura the letter gets me every single time. It's sad yet beautiful in its composition from the music, lack of dialogue, the symbolic meaning of Mary represented in the drawing & the look of complete sadness in Lauras eyes breaks me beyond words. At least both James & Laura get their closure, now they can rest

6:38 def one of my fav scenes from the remake and that scene hit me pretty hard. I love the new track there and having Mary read the letter was a great call (in the OG you just examine it to read it yourself)

I wonder if Laura was in the real world or the foggy world. Could she see the residents of Silent Hill. I don't think a little girl like her could explore Silent Hill in the foggy world

probably in the foggy world but with no monsters or anything to manifest. i assume she was eventually allowed to leave and live her life.

The town is, in fact, deserted. How or why is a complete mystery, but whoever goes to it is confronted with the products of their unconscious mind. The thing about Laura is that she's only a child. She doesn't struggle with guilt, trauma and personal fears the same way an adult does, so the town doesn't have a lot from her to manifest. It reminds me of how Stephen King describes the mindset of a kid being essentially the same as how our minds work when we are asleep, and Silent Hill's quiet, moody atmosphere resembles that very closely, like the bridge in between.

Laura was probably in a fog world version made for her, where everything might be very well kept, without monsters, and without the fog. Think of it as the town manifested itself to her as a giant playground for her to explore and play in (explains why there are toys in places they absolutely shouldn't be, like the isolation ward in Brookhaven). Silent Hill, contrary to what many people think, isn't deserted at all, this can be seen in the original SH2 and in SH3, especially in the hospital where the typewriters are replaced by computers, a small but vital detail revealing that the real world version is very much inhabited and is a "normal" town. Either that, or she is actually in the real world and can see James and interact with him, while other adults can't see the fog world and, by extension, James. This is less likely since she was roaming the town freely without interruptions and she was in places a kid should never be let into. Again, the isolation ward in Brookhaven is the perfect example. Do you think the hospital staff would let a kid in there? She would've been escorted off the premises as soon as she left the lobby and went deeper into the building.

Far as I know, Laura IS in Silent Hill but she doesn't carry the guilt or dark feelings that would manifest. She's trapped there like Eddie, James, and Angela but isn't in the same danger that the others are. She has her own vision of the world which is likely far more pleasant. Which is why she doesn't believe James when he says there's monsters. Or doesn't seem at all scared with the world. She's not in danger of anything but rather other people. The only way for Laura to leave is to accept Mary isn't there.. And that she is dead. Similar to James; she needs to learn to move on. Every person in Silent Hill has their deepest recesses of their mind manifested. James is in a dark and dangerous place hunted by monsters that represent James's inner wish to be punished for his actions. Pay attention to how the world around each character changes. Laura's world is much more safe, with toys and warmer hues. She's got nothing to be ashamed or guilty for.

I’ve always thought the town itself was consumed by the Cults experiment with Alessa and PTV (white claudia). Harry Mason is one of the few Silent Hill protagonists that has no trauma or psychological turmoil. I’ve always considered pre-Alessa/Cheryl merge that the town wasn’t abandoned. Afterwards the town got consumed by the nightmare/fog world the cult created. There’s so many bad things that have happened in Silent Hill in the past I doubt a Real World Silent Hill still exists in the current timeline.

Laura knows james, even hate him for his behaviour, means they've met several time before. But james have no idea who she is, not even "hey, she's the brat who stays in the hospital with Mary" Is this just a plot hole or is memory about laura are also part of James memories that got blurred?

She looks actually quite pretty in some scenes/cuts. Usually she's more bratty than pretty though. But she's actually a good girl, so I'd even say she's the best SH girl.
