Besides the dialogue, the delivery of the lines is probably the single most important thing to SH 2's atmosphere. It's what is propelling the story through the lens of a dream. I knew this wouldn't be replicated in a remake, so i was a lot less disappointed when I saw it. The dreaminess of OG SH2 was never in the near future possible. David Lynch films are often misunderstood by the direction of the acting as "bad acting." And Konami wants as many purchases as possible, which meant we were going to get a more suitable Hollywood delivery as is standard for high production efforts from normal companies. I'm going to play this because I love Silent Hill 2 and im curious as to how they are going to handle certain things, but also am excited for Akira Yamaoka's new music. Cheers.

Honestly I'm a big advocate for low expectations, and I tend to enjoy stuff more than most people. I like a good 7 out 10 experience. 😆Callisto Protocol's a good example of a game that, despite the issues that I can absolutely understand people have with it, I was able to look past it and enjoy it for what it was. I listen to those complaints and I'm like 'Yeah, you're absolutely right' despite the fact that I got through it ok. This is the one game in the whole universe for which I can't have that mindset. 😮‍💨Never mind. Thanks for swinging by.

I'm also secretly hoping they take the acting we're hearing and put it in a strange context in the actual release. I'm not holding my breath however. If I can at least get some of that dream/fugue state atmosphere I would be very happy (and surprised).

The best way they could've done this reveal was a dark screen with the music in the background and some lines from the original game (possibly NOT the ones they chose). Showing absolutely NOTHING. That would've been the way, because clearly they didn't relate to the original by any stretch. I 100% agree with you that showing so much emotions takes completely away from the atmosphere of the first game. I really hope they make a U-turn and at least check what fans with some common sense have to say, they could learn a lot on how to make this goddamn remake faithful.

0:24 Why does Konami hate Kojima so much? The man that singlehandedly kept your company relevant for decades. Kojima was obviously a fan of Team Silent and thier works.. Who honestly knows how successful P.T. would've become , and what Kojima would've brought to the table. Regardless , for Blooper to throw in a P.T. reference was very shameless , tasteless , and inaccurate ; towards the source material of the narrative behind SH 2's original story. I really want to think it's just a random coachroch crawling on the floor , but we know better .. 4:14 I totally forgot , that they used the MSG V redband trailer Konami logo background asset. Why? When see this , I'm expecting to hear Miller monologue about Diamond Dogs 😂. The resentment towards Kojima is remarkable. It also shows the laziness of Konami, a taste of things to come with this remake.

I'm so sorry you feel like this, Silent Hill 2 is also my favorite game and i understand your point and you are right, but i actually liked this trailer and i'm so happy this game is back, it will never be as good as the original game but that's something i knew when the first rumour came out, i don't even think the original Team Silent would make the same game because it's been 21 years, tecnology has changed so much and the industry has changed a lot too. I just feel happy we are getting this after all these years, and remember, we only have a teaser trailer, we'll se more in the future and maybe you change your opinion! New generations will get to know the game and although it's not gonna be the same experience, i believe that the if the final result will be 70% or a 80% similar to the game, i'll be fine with it. Edit: And don't let this make you stop keep going with your channel!

I wouldn't recommend playing The Medium. It's not just bad narratively but there are no puzzles or gameplay. unless marvel movie quippy dialogue in the face of child sexual abuse and homophobia to be compelling.

Totally respect this take on this trailer but I look at this a lot more optimistically. Im a big fan of the silent hill franchise and silent hill 2 is my favorite of the bunch. Its a masterpiece and we’ll always have the original but when it comes to remakes, I’m glad they’re changing some stuff. Dead Space for example had some changes like Issac actually speaking when he didn’t in the original which I though was a phenomenal change. I don’t want to play the same game again ya know? I’m excited to see what they can do and see a different take on this story while still respecting the original. Who knows though it could be terrible. Totally respect this take and love the video though ❤

This seems like a rather large overreaction. It would be nearly impossible to get all of the old team back since they're doing literally anything else. Of course the main concern that Bloober team is heading the remake is valid, but you're literally just shaking your head the entire time. Most of the original campiness and tone, was because even the PS2 couldn't handle everything they wanted to do. James has actual emotions because nearly any AAA game now uses mocap, when back then they were just using it for the first time. Most of these changes are not that deep, and they haven't shown much of anything, not even gameplay. Especially PH, it's just him walking into a building, yet you're reacting like they completely changed it.

The fog was there due to tech limits at that time too. Plus James in the original does show emotion, it's just a different one from the remake, which fails to capture the psyche of a man jumping down buttomless dark holes without hesitation.

@@Otanru Agree with James showing a different kind of emotion (fugue state, dissociation) in the original, but Silent Hill 2 was released on the PS2, where there was no longer a draw distance issue (which the PS1 is notorious for), so the fog was a continuation of the ludonarrative design regardless of it's original limitation workaround.
