it IS a hilariously awesome unlock however this is something I would've enjoyed much more in my childhood. as an adult once I've unlocked everything I don't see a point to continue, the satisfaction is in the challenge. When I was a kid it didn't bother me to waste time but time is so much more precious to me now, no time for pointless overpowered unlocks.

Fun fact, you CAN get an ending by simply contradicting the others instead of focusing on one. For example, I was able to get the Maria ending by going against leave AND in water at the same time. Idk the why but I guess it goes "well, Maria is the one you went against the least so... You got that one!" It can help alot

I tried that on PS2 to get the Maria Ending, but I got In Water instead. I never got the Maria ending, I tried to do what's required, but couldn't make it, and the game always gave mi In Water. I have HD remaster, but I never got a PS3.

@@vagabundorkchaosmagick-use2898 to be more specific, I interacted with all the walls and journals that affected the in water ending, BUT I never stayed at too low health. I also think I "examined" all the items that would affect ALL the endings. At first I was just trying to see what would happen, but it ended up giving me the Maria ending.

That's because the endings start with a certain bias with a point tally. There are things you can do to add to the tallies for each ending, and things you can do to take points from each tally. If you have already completed one ending, the other two (this only counts for Leave, Maria, and In Water) will have an extra point from the start. If you've finished two endings, the last one will start with 2 extra points. And I see that many people recommend repeating certain actions that contribute to each ending. The conditions are things like keeping low health or bumping into Maria. However actions like examining the knife only count once. There is a minimum tally for each ending and if you reach that minimum (which can be a negative number) it won't go lower. If you finish the game with two endings that have even scores, it weights by preference Leave>Maria>In Water.

Play the game on a ps2 and on a CRT tv which is the intended way to play. The HD remaster is the worst way to play the game, they mostly took out the fog they put a lot of the writing in comic sans and they paved the roads to look new.

And as a bonus I'll repost my personal tips: Alright folks, some extra advice for anybody cuckoo enough to attempt the 10 stars and Platinum: Some of you may know that Konami in all of its glorious stupidity gave the Silent Hill Remaster to a bunch of monkeys, that in turn made the game have various issues, one in particular is a really annoying black screen after you come out of the inventory or go through a door where the game STILL RUNS in the background. So in order to not strangle a cat by taking unfair damage that you couldn't even see, do the following: -1: Everytime you go through a door, have a handgun equipped and IF you hear the loud radio noise like an enemy is really close immediatelly aim and shoot, don't think, don't wait for the screen to clear up, JUST DO IT! that should give you enough time to stun the atacker and figure out from there. -2: Before entering dangerous rooms equip the Shotgun, If the space you're entering is small its better to shoot once before the screen finishes loading (AKA the hospital rooms) just in case an enemy is on top of you in that annoying black screen. -3: The Hunting Rifle is unnecessary, however it excels at taking out the "Big Daddies" enemies in the Lakeview Hotel because of its Range and piercing ability really helping in the big hallways. Consider picking up if you took a lot of damage already and need to do the Hotel as safe as possible. 4: In the "Flesh Lips" boss fight you should never stop moving, even after coming out of the inventory after a reload, always keep him at a distance before going in the menu, don't get cocky thinking you can shoot him more than twice without putting yourself at risk. 5: Puzzle difficulty changes after you've beaten all the Riddle levels. You can know in wich difficulty you are by paying attention to the coin puzzle, if the answer is: Space-Oldman-Space-Snake-Prisoner you're on Hard mode; If its: Old Man-Space-Snake-Prisoner-Space You're on Extra riddle. Both are valid for the 10 Star Rank. 6: To quick reset at anytime (really useful at the boat) Hold select + start + shoulder buttons to get back to the menu. You won't be able to do this if you're playing through PSNow using a PS5, then again if you are, you're already screwed on the boat anyways because the PS5 controllers and streaming delay makes it so that its near impossible to achieve under 1:20 min. Good luck, you're gonna need it. 🤞

Getting 10 stars is one of my proudest gaming acheivements. For anyone else who wants to attempt this, I did a test run and counted all the damage I took on that run as I felt this was the hardest part of the run:- I ended up with 408 points of damage which was far below the 500 requirement and got hit by the following:- Lying Figure (spitter) - 10 times Creeper (cockroach) - 3 times Nurse - 4 times Hangman - 1 time Eddie (Shot) - 2 times Eddie (Punch) - 1 time Hotel Doorman - 5 times Mannequin - 1 time It was actually a lot more lenient than I was expecting

Never finished a 10-star run of SH2 or SH3 but still on my “to do” lists, especially since I did it (twice) for SH4 to unlock “All Weapon” mode. Turn the flashlight off either before entering a room or immediately open the inventory upon loading into a room and manually turn it off (if the radio is buzzin’). It’ll buy you an additional second before the enemies realize your presence and attack.

Meh ... i don't have this platinum ... but to tell you the truth , it sounds more like a hard chore than a hard platinum. It's one of those Platinums that if you play the game long enough you will get it eventually. So, when you classify a platinum being hard, take into consideration things like -> will a n00b eventually get the platinum if he plays and learns all the game details? i think the answer to this question is YES, and we have the living proof of this. Now... it's another story for games like Sekiro or some online games, why? because a n00b can't just learn what to do in the game you need reflexes to beat those bosses or other players in online games. And you can't just overpower bosses with level. So picking up items? picking up all those books? getting over the river in less than 1:20 sec? finish the game in a short time? Meh... all of these are doable EZPZ after you just learn the game and finish it a few times.... Is it doable in games like Sekiro? Neh. Not the same thing. So, SH2 platinum is not hard per-se, it is just one of those harder chores. chore a routine task, especially a household one. a tedious but necessary task.

It's not the controller. It's the fact that on the PS5 you were streaming the game while on the PS3 you were playing the game in real time Streaming adds latency which was most likely the reason why you were failing whereas there was 0 latency on the real hardware when you were playing it

On ps 2 the Maria ending is so ridiculously hard since Maria can't take ANY damage (cutscenes obviously don't count) and pyramidhead will almost always deal some on her in the hospital basement, unless you glitch yourself between her and it.

On Hard Mode, I didn't even know you could get to the elevator by just running before Maria would die. It wasn't too difficult to constantly stun Pyramid Head, though. You just shouldn't use a firearm, because Maria dies from one accidental shot at her.

One thing that will help with the pyramid chase in the hallway with Maria. When you first get into that room wait until Maria goes into a waiting animation then run for it... then pyramid head will be chasing you with Maria behind pyramid head and she will not be hit at all by the pyramid.

I confirm that it is quite a challenge to get this platinum trophy. And as they said here, twice or triple as complicated in the "broken" hd edition, with endless glitches (you can't imagine the *terror* of not knowing if the game freezes, gets stuck, after the first save. . . 2 max). Another part that was quite complicated for me was the phase of the boat… and arriving on time; keep track of kills with targets and firearms, not taking too much damage, the time limit to finish it, etc. It is one of the platinums that I am most proud of having achieved -around 2011/12- although I suffered that "remastering" of ps3.. Infinitely better was the ps2 version I played in the early 2000's! Thanks to the fact that I'm in love with Silent Hill (especially the 4 games made by Team Silent), I wouldn't have attempted this challenge otherwise. Congratulations on the achievement. 🏆✌🏾🔦📻

Great video man, I love how in-depth this is, and it got me nostalgic for SH2 again. I would just prefer if the background music wasn't so loud, as good as the ost is it's hard to hear you sometimes

At the Maria part, and I have to imagine, but will add edit amendments if wrong, the endings aren't as hard to get as you think. The proximity to Maria wasn't important, rather, for that ending the strat is to collect all the items in the streets afk just outside the hospital then when she's sick in bed visit her like 2-3 times, you're set. So long as you don't complete the ritual items, visit Mira or examine the knife like 40 times. lol

Damn, nicely done. I remember quite well my attempt at the 10 star ranking on the ps2 version. The PH chase sequence at the hospital is the worst! As for Eddie, one Great Knife slash suffices to make him run through the door and 2 slices in the big room did the trick for me 👍

@@GawdlikeMatt simply equip just any other weapon that doesn’t slow you down, then wait for him to come close to you, open the menu, equip the great knife and slash away lol it doesn’t always work but a bit of timing and good luck works wonders

Part of the problem with those loading straight into damage rooms is that's one of the many MANY issues with the HD collection. That issue doesn't occur in the original releases. (Another is the ambiance was harmed by removing a lot of the debris and details like that from many locations in the game... well not so much "removed" as "not yet present" because the HD collection was made from a beta version of the game.)

I hope the Remake of SH2 gets a “fun” platinum instead of a chore platinum. IMO Resident Evil has set an example of fun platinums ever since RE7 and forward. Technically Remake 2 if you look at the %’s, but I blame that on Re7 actually having a scary tone that turns people away in practice rather than your average internet user claiming horror doesn’t lower the playtime of the average consumer.

I agree that the newer resident evil games have pretty enjoyable trophy lists. I hope they bring the 10 star rank back but i doubt it would be as hard with a modernized style

@@unsungdog yes this was from the hd collection, aka the ps3 version, however last year it was available on playstation now so i was able to play it via my ps5 which was what I did for a time.

Idk if it was the necessarily the ps5 controller itself but rather playstation now meaning that you were streaming the game and dealing with a much higher level of input lag that the game was just not designed around not to mention is the HD collections version and those are notoriously borked so it's like 2 strikes there.

NICE RE2 BOX THING BROTHER. P.S. For anyone who wants to give this game a go for the first time in the year of our lord 2023 there's a really good fan megapatch called SH2 Enhanced Edition that fixes basically all the PC issues plus updates it to work with widescreen and such well, it's the optimal way to experience the game now short of a cursed PS2 setup on a CRT in some abandoned warehouse

One of the most difficult completions I've done, as if it wasn't hard enough I chickened out and made my 2nd save before the face puzzle to get to Maria, so I had to do that, labyrinth, Abstract Daddy, Eddie, boat + Hotel in 1 swoop, starting over again every time I failed. Then for added frustration the 1st time I made it to the end after nailing the boat ride within the time limit I'd taken 504pts of damage. Finally did it not long after though, if I get arthritis in future years I'm blaming that boat section for it.

Big tip for the first pyramid head boss fight, just run to the corner furthest away from the door and do nothing, give it sometime and he'll leave. which saves bullets and health/health items.

I was 19 when this came out... I'm glad i was there for the golden age of gaming. I spent many hours on this game and found almost everything, back then there weren't any gaming guides online. If there were i had no clue about it, in Darby pa no one had internet until 2010 cause we was po. We sold the other o and r cause it was that bad. But i have great silent hill 1 2 3 and even the room nastalgia.
