you dont need to actually move that slow. just dont leave her behind too much. (like transition screens without her around). The Ending system is more of a point system than a requirement. Most points determines the ending and different behaviors add and remove points.

I would call the Leave ending the "good" ending, for the most part. At least between the three main ones.

I would agree that it's the "good" ending but not the "best". I've seen a breakdown of how the endings work and how they are scored. Each of the three main endings (Leave, In Water, Maria) start with a base score as soon as you begin, and specific triggers and playing behaviour will add or remove points that contribute to each ending. If you have already completed one of those three endings, the other two get an extra starting point, and if there's only one of the three left, that one starts with 2 extra points (to make it easier to get). The developers have alluded that the the In Water ending is the best and I would agree because it is the most tragic and really suits James. It also starts with the least points on the tally, for the other SH games, the better endings take more work to achieve.

I think the word you're looking for isn't the "best" but the most canon. Yes it's true the in-water ending is the most canon but art is a subjective thing. The leave ending has the best song in my opinion and it is hands my favorite ending. But honestly, nothing describes how good this ending is than this KZbin comment I came across from another video: "Driven mad by his guilt, pulled toward the place of his sins, punished to relive his past horrors, accepted his mistakes, forgiven by his victim, redeemed by his actions...the peak of storytelling in survival horror games"

As a Silent Hill 2 fan who played on Ps2, and Xbox 360 Silent Hill HD collection versions, It's always refreshing to see other gamers who have NEVER played the game make content about the game. It let's me relive my Ps2 era days and remembering all the pain. Now I just speed run the game and win it in less than an hour most times (Dog ending of course)

Regarding everything you mentioned with In Water - you don't have to do of those things, but those are the things that make it more likely for you to get the ending. The first time I played SH2 I got In Water, but the only things from that list that I did were be really low health a lot and listen to the entire Maria dialogue at the end. I never found that text in the bar until my third or fourth play through, probably only examined Angela's knife once, never found the headphones in the hotel, etc.

I did this platinum many years ago, the most complicated part for me Going fot the 10 stars was the piramid head chase, I was able to complete it in one time regardless before my first save which made what was left easier! Congratulations in obtaining this!

I commend you for persevering in this endeavor. I too have 100% Silent Hill HD Collection on my Xbox. I’ve debated on trying to platinum it on my PlayStation side, but I doubt Sony has put any significant updates the way that Microsoft did through the backwards compatibility program so the thought of trying this abomination of a remaster in its original broken form is sooooo not territory I want to go into. I had no idea you could get through the Mary fight by running around in a circle, could’ve saved me a lot of grief! Haha. Congratulations!

Ah the memories of those really hard Trophies, even back in the day when I was a more hard core Trophy Hunter I tend to avoid Trophy Hunting games that where very hard, but I done a few. I didn't Plat Silent Hill 2, but I did Plat Dead Space 2 which has the same difficulty score as Silent Hill 2.

There's a easy way to get through that corridor with Maria not getting hit at all where pyramid head actually goes in front of Maria and he just chases you. As soon as you walk into the room just sit there until Maria goes into her waiting around animation, as soon as she does that make a run for it and Maria will stay in the far back and pyramid head will spawn between you two. Be sure to let people know about this cause I've never seen anybody do this yet.

You have an iron will. I did the 7 Day survivor achievement in Dead Rising way back when, I made it to the 3 day mark and my system crashed. Never attempted again, I was just too mad for being screwed. It's one thing when it's you own fault, but for the system or the game to error. being born in 1983 and someone that has owned ever PS made (except the ps5 pro F that) I was a master at tank controls from RE1 and 2 by the time SH2 was released, but there's something to be said for those controls with fixed camera angles, it makes it far more rewarding to win because of the sheer difficulty controlling the character reliably! I was so good on those I knew exactly how to move in each different frames seamlessly it was amazing how good I was, I wonder if it's like riding a bike? I miss the old, fixed camera angles that would slowly reveal things while playing, it was very cinematic.

I was over the moon when I got the platinum for both 2 & 3. The worst part was when I was doing only 1 save halfway through a play through and the game crashed. I know this is about trophies but the conditions and specific items required for each ending are not tied to trophies. Just for anyone playing a version which (thank god they still exist) don't have trophies. Some of the things you've described in relation to each ending have either specific thresholds, one off actions, or ongoing timers. For example, if you bump into Maria 30 or more times you get a point taken away from the Maria ending. There's also a timer running constantly when Maria's sections are active, which measures your proximity to Maria, that will contribute to the Maria ending tally. Viewing Angela's knife only affects your ending score the first time you examine it. You can keep examining it but it doesn't make any further difference after the first time. Leave has an overheal total. If you use health items that add up to I think it's 200% of your total health, Leave gets a point on its tally. Each ending starts with a score, and the one with the highest when you complete the game is what you'll see. Leave starts with the most, In Water the least. If you've already achieved one of the three, the other two get 1 extra point. If you've done two, the last gets 2 extra points. If two endings have the same score, it favours Leave, then Maria, then In Water, in that order.

Even though you’re playing the HD collection of SH2, a alpha version of the game because Konami lost the og source code for the ps2 version, this game is still amazing on the ps3 despite it being inferior. In a few days we are likely getting a full trailer for Silent Hill 2 remake if leaks are correct.

Yeh haha I may have ran into issues, I still could see how legendary this game truly is which makes me excited to dive into Silent Hill 3! Here's hoping we get more info on the 2 Remake, I really want it to be good!

When i initially played through the remake on PS3, i got about 3 endings using just one playthroughs second save file.....saved me a lot of time.

Just so you know, you CAN change the 3d controls (tank controls) to 2d which is far more easier to play in Options. If you want the secret options by press L1+R1 in options.
