Nice video. It made me think about how in nowdays videogames all these tips would be put in the game in loading screens or while you were playing, but at the same time is what kills the inmersion and the sense of exploration that old school videogames used to have. Besides, the fact that those tips are not in the game makes it feel less videogameish.

[Ratiocinator] I try to watch people stream the game for the first time and was surprised at how many never knew you could zoom in/out the map, or stomp enemies, or would be halfway through the game before they learned they could reposition the camera! That was the primary reason for making this video. :)

Just to reiterate, DON'T pick hard if it's your first time lol. No spoilers but it isn't your standard "hard mode" where enemies are just harder and there's less supplies, it makes certain things incredibly frustrating if you don't look up what to do on a gamefaq or something. I always thought the hard difficulty should have been locked until you beat the game on normal or easy.

Being able to play this in ultrawide and not have it distorted is just amazing! I'm so glad I never sold my copy of this game and can play it even more enjoyably than when I first bought it nearly 20 years ago!

Nowadays it's everywhere not just Twitch or KZbin. We don't sit on endless storage space so they need to cut something. And considering people upload all sorts of crap on daily basis the picture quality will get worse and worse over the years. Unless we get storage drives with a size of a dust spec.

You guys did a fantastic job, even a smoothbrain like myself was able to get this up and running with only one head scratching moment. A brief moment, a brain fart if you will lol. BRAVO! I haven't played since the initial release, but i poked around in the VRchat world for months just soaking in the atmosphere. I don't even remember the order of events very well, i just know i got the leave ending first try and was satisfied, and other games came out plus addicted to online gaming which just hit the console around the time of SH2 launch.

Silent hill is a master piece,I heard you get extra riddles after doing the 3 settings you get xtra difficulty ...I'm playing it on hard now it's actually better as monsters are quicker ,the strait jacket monster is probably the only one I keep the gun for "watch out for the insect monster that doesn't appear in easier difficulties because Thea's things are hard to kill ESP if there's more than one

I can't help but think the section at 4:10 should be at the start of the video or at least sooner as so few people or newbies know about this option whilst complaining or wishing the game had such an option whilst being totally unaware that it already exists. A review on the channel called Nerrel praised the Enhanced Edition but complained about the tank control specific to Silent Hill 2 even though he doesn't usually take issues with them as an example.

At this point in time it's abandonware meaning no money ever goes to the publisher when people play the game it's not available digital and the disc version see no money going to the publisher so your more than fine getting it for free i got my version through a KZbin tutorial with a link to the game but the videos gone just Google Silent Hill 2 PC download and go to myabandonware to download the game.

Hearing an audio "hum"/"buzz" only when James' light is on doesn't make sense. Since this is only happening when you're streaming, are you also using a mic in your stream? Do you have the hotkey to toggle James' flashlight ("L" by default) also being used for something related to your microphone in Discord? I don't think this is an issue with the game/our project.

Hard action difficulty is completely fine for a first playthrough as well. You'll be running away from monsters one way or another regardless.

@@SomeSunshineOutside that's the thing - it destroys creepyness for me. it's like the movie is playing at double speed. it's funny, not creepy. that's why i avoid this mode even if the game is too easy for me on normal. and that's a shame bacause hard mode introduces a new steel pipe movement that i like.

Well, it is possible, although I wouldn't expect this team to do it. Games like _Super Mario 64_ have been ported to PC natively by fans. In the meantime, you can always emulate it.

Sadly we still live in a age of bad streaming options unless you shell out big money on equiepments and internet packages. But even then it's crap. Most of the time what you see doesn't render the same way on stream and it's hard to watch and when you perfect it for a stream the game becomes unplayable for the streamer unless you like torturing yourself and play as not meant to be played. Can't satisfy both ends at the same time. This is the biggest issue. Also some people keep using or even adding these stupid graining grunge effects (as a style... aestethic... w-e) and later folks wonder why the picture quality is garbage when watched back on a video xD Instead of clearing up things these clowns are going back to stoneage technology making things unwatchable. So yeah graning efect works cool on CRT TVs but on streams and recording videos avoid at all cost because especially posting it online it compresses to hell so grain and fast movements just makes terrible pixalisations.

Is it me or do the game have framepacing issues? I finished it recently and frame consistency was not great, it was kinda annoying. Strange thing is I remember getting the same inconsistency playing PCSX2 version of the game. (My specs are 2500k@4.5+RX578)

I think making him automatically look at picktup items is good only if he can naturally spot the items and not if hidden in fog or distant, or it'll make the game easier, helpful and decrease the horror. While auto unlocking door saves time, it also makes the gameplay shorter. There is fun at finding the right key from inventory, it helps remembering what place it's for and makes it more immersive and longer. It's frustrating in chases, but in real life we mostly carry the keys while running or we bring them out a few feet away from the door. What is annoying in a lot of games is the hard modes usually make us weaker and enemy much stronger and moving and strafing them at crazy pace, which is unnatural even for that world. It's like mocking the player lol. Sometimes, they'll make the player too slow to turn in a corner or open doors (RE), which is stupid and makes us attack our buttons and get killed for sure. Slowing down works better for slower environment or character's physical or mental state and if we're really scared, we will mess up at buttons anyway. We dont need to start moving slow in hard mode. In real life, we do speed up, because we're freaked, and that's where we naturally make mistakes. Really good job at the map and lighting. Fog is already moving, so the noise removing in live streaming is understandable as an option and not forced. But soft noise on automatically in off mode, for approaching enemies, does link better with radio distortion.
