I know this is an old comment, but I disagree. Out of the original quadrology, 3 is the most "visceral" in its horror by far. Monster designs are more intimidating and the sound design on them is some primal dread shit, the theme is more bloody and grotesque, and they really mastered the lighting on the ps2 with some of the most artfully creepy shadows and locales.
