That does add a neat facet to the Silent hill lore. Everyone who visits and gets subjected to the hell they face has their inner demons come out and join the ever growing tapestry of pain and misery that is the town. Even if they somehow escape and survive their pain becomes another tool for the town to use on future visitors

it is very much enforced. some folks have parents or grandparents that received a purple heart and wear the medal or a ribbon to commemorate their service. some folks are dicks and try to use it for attention and those are the people that should be reported. where i live, police are more likely to remove the shirt of a 12 yo girl just because it says POLICE on it, in walmart, at night, and detain her out front for everyone to look at her until her mother came to get her shirt back and get her daughter away from that cop. (yes, true story). since the stolen valor act is a federal offense, youre more likely to see the feds handle anyone suspected of violating that act. but it really depends on the who dun it. a 10yo most likely will not be prosecuted. a 16yo could be. anyone over 18 definitely will. one issue i have with it is the fact that we have army surplus stores (which.... why is there a surplus? and why are we giving military goods to civilians?) which makes it easier to impersonate a soldier. remember folks, ask for proper ID.

Believe it or not, your video actually had me take a look back at this game, and gain a new appreciation for it. You see, the game implies Alex was already born with a mental disturbance (which only got worse after losing Josh), but I think what mental disturbance is going to depend on how you play with him through out the game. It can be "Peter Pan syndrome" (Hospital ending), Anti-social disorder (Pyramid Head ending), or my condition, which is Asperger (Good and "Drown" endings). After all of this, I like to believe the canon ending is the "Drown". I don't think it was all a dream in that ending. I think a miracle was performed. One similar to when the original Goddess was born through the Man and the Woman's prayer.

But then, if my belief in his return in this ending is little, why do I think he truly has returned to life in the "Drown" ending ? Remember how the original Goddess was born when two human beings amidst the darkness prayed to the Sun ? My theory, is that the story is somewhat of an exaggeration. I think what really happened, is that those two people fell in love with each other, the first humans to ever feel love, joy and hope in existance. As a result of introducing this new concept into reality, their daughter became a sort of avatar to this new principle, evolving from human to concept, thus becoming, by our definition, a God. Through out the game, Alex went through the exact same thing those humans went. Nothing but hate and pain. But when he chooses to spare his mother a painful end, it was not because he forgave her. It was because he owed her. If it wasn't for her and her father, Joshua, his greatest love in his life, would have never been born (not even his bond with Elle was that strong, given how they were apart for a while). He owed to at least give her a just and painless ending. That strong love and sense of justice was only felt by the city once. The Goddess and her parents. And so to reward his impartiality and immense love, his biggest wish was answered. His brother was returned to life. And just maybe, in the future, this child of hope and love might put an end to this legacy of bloodshed, thus redeeming the town.

Absolutely loved seeing y'all roasting the everliving $#¡! out of Homecoming straight outta' the gate & I felt so vindicated by your acknowledgement of how easily the player could unintentionally trigger the U.F.O. ending on their 1st playthrough--such bafflingly terrible game design on full, immersion breaking display! At least now this disappointingly sub-par entry in the S.H. series is directly responsible for one more artistic work in the world with redeemable merit (other than Yamaoka's soundtrack). P.S. The 2 R.H.P.S. parodies were stupendously on-point, as well.

I just found out something. Did people know this game originally was supposed to be a trilogy ? With Joshua battling with Alessa/Heather/Cheryl for control over the town's power ? People said it was a ridiculous idea... But I for one don't find it that stupid and would have loved to watch it. Remember how I said Joshua could have been the one who redeems his family's name ? Maybe this could be the way for him to do it. Maybe he and Heather could have eventually joined forces and do what the first two humans who prayed to the sun did. Bring true salvation.
