@@MaxNeugebauer.Yes, but the review wasn’t a hate-fest. There have been so many movies I am so excited to see and I watch a review that makes me feel stupid for even considering it, I appreciate the delivery style. Even Cody was disappointed, which means he went in excited to find a new favorite film, and it didn’t deliver. Have a good weekend. Hey, Cody. I also adore Joel Kinnaman. I have seen all of his movies he appeared in such as Robocop remake. Speaking of Altered Carbon, Joel did a awesome fight scene with Action Legend himself Daniel Bernhardt.

i absolutely loved this movie. seems im in the minority but oh well. i understand a lot of the hate it gets but the story just worked for me. & i know literally nobody else gets any character development but it was his movie so i was ok w him getting literally all of it & him getting flashbacks of his son throughout the movie was fine w me because it shows his love for his son and what motivates him. over a year he never lost any motivation on what hes been training to do.

Me also, although it wasn't the kind of movie I was expecting. A lot of his critiques are accurate when you look at what Cody was expecting. It is definitely more The Equalizer or the new Netflix movie The Killer than the B movie Xmas shootem' up I thought would be. I liked how the random violence of one action (his child being unintentionally killed) lead to a kharmic retribution to the person who inflicted it. Considering Woo is not a Westerner, I loved how the focused on the vengeance as character versus the instigators of said vengeance. I also loved how there was an emotional cost to the father's path of vengeance. And even if it may have been clunky in some points, I thought the whole film beings ambient sound was fascinating. It's too bad that action directors (like Woo) never get their full respect the way Scorsese or Ridley Scott does. Woo's films have more style and substance than usually given credit for.

Go watch "For all Mankind!" He is outstanding in that. He definitely deserves better. My biggest regret was that I didn't walk out because I was hoping that any second the action would pick up and I would get great action. In my theater the silence was such a gimmick that at certain scenes that were supposed to convey trauma, my theater was laughing.

I do feel this movie would have Been Better or awesome with a few twist to it 1st i Think that making all The Characters silent didnt make sense though i Think that Only making Joel Kinnaman silent would Be The Better choice it Will show more of his acting range that he Can act Without saying a Word but it was not needed that The rest of The cast also was silent 2nd i Think that if their was more action in The movie and not just at The last Half hour of The movie would Be good and maybe film The action more Smooth 3rd i Think that there should Be more like range in The villians than just Be villians or just a gang i would like Them to be more setup then just Be a generic villian And last this is not really important but maybe they could have maked it more Christmas theme ish but this is not The most important of all The other Things

The person I was watching it with said that the no dialogue thing was similar to the movie Soldier, but that movie did it better because it was just Kurt Russell and the other super soldiers who had minimal to no dialogue. Everyone else actually spoke full sentences. I need to give that one a rewatch and see if it holds up.

Exactly. It's incidental. Anybody with the "DIE HARD IS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE" opinion must not be trusted in his capacity to analyze movies. Every opinions that comes after this one are proven biased and tainted with a wrongful perception on events, link between events and characters, between characters, cinema codes etc. This is an opinion for the amateurs to recognize themselves among other amateurs on the street and on the internet.

It kept taking me out of it every time he would make noises that I'm pretty sure mute people can't make lol. Also, I think it's a good movie, but I also left slightly disappointed and I blame it on the trailer. That trailer made it look like it was gona be neck breaking pace action from beginning to end, but it's not... it's a grief movie and it really didn't help that it's a JW movie, people were expecting too much action. Same happened with Thomas Jane's Punisher, it was fine, but people were expecting much more punishing and much less spying. If Silent Night fails, I am 100% positive it'll be because of the trailer smh

Yeah I was let down by this movie, Cody. I saw it last night as well and I’m one who doesn’t mind the gimmick of dialogue free…but I think this particular story would have worked better if it was only the protagonist who couldn’t speak. There was another film that this year that was without dialogue called “No One Will Save You”. The gimmick worked better in that film because you were following one character the entire time and it wasn’t awkward. Silent Night needed characters to speak in the film in my opinion. Great experiment that works in version stories. This film it does not. I did like some of the action though and the brutality. It’s enjoyable, but still middle of the road for me and a fair disappointment.

Cody. Man. I love you. But lethal weapon is much more of a Christmas movie than die hard. I’m sorry. It starts off with jingle bell rock, and it ends with Riggs giving murtaugh an amazing Xmas gift. Come on. Also, when it comes to John woo American movies, just stick with hard target and face off. 90s cheese 😊
