In this video I carve a spoon from a piece of Golden Ash. I start by splitting the log, then roughing out the shape with a hatchet. After that I continue to refine the shape with a knife until I am happy with the shape and finish of the spoon. After this I rub the surface of the spoon with a smooth rock, which burnishes the surface and improves the finish. I then use some homemade spoon butter the seal and protect the wood. The spoon butter is a blend of beeswax and coconut oil, and is foodsafe and easy to make.
