Same here. I only have 'ratchet blade' as the option. :( I just now today upgraded my software to the 4.4xx version and was hoping there would be more options there but nope. I'm using Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Plus on my Cameo 2, so I wonder if maybe it's an option in the next step up, Business Edition? :-/

I tried to use the PixScan mat with my Cameo 3 (Business Edition Software) to place the metal plank. I get an registration mark error. The machine doesn't read the registration marks. In another blog I read that the PixScan Mat and print and cut are use for cut projects only. So if I set my machine on SKETCH and Sketch pen the machine doesn't read the marks. Do you have any suggestions on what other setting I could use for pixscan? Is there a tutorial on how to do it with PixScan? Last night I followed your instructions to get it done and it worked except my metal came off the double stick tape before the job was finished. What kind of double stick tape are you using? Btw. I LIKE your tutorial well. They are step by step without side tracking and easy to follow.

Best Tutorial I have found. Thank you so much. I will be doing my blanks like you do. I learned the hard way about putting the blanks in the wrong place. I am also saving money by doing my own circle blanks using Aluminum sheets and a punch & die set.

I'm using the silhouette etching deal that comes with cameo and it's not doing anything when I try to engrave a saying on a dog tag I have. Any suggestions?

Wich version of Studio do you use? It seems so different from mine. I use Studio Designer Edition and can't find some settings.

Hi! This tutorial was done in 2016 & at that time I only had Silhouette Studio Designer Edition. Since then, the look has changed. With that being said, you can still follow the tutorial just find the tabs/buttons that go with each step. I know yes business edition. Hi Sydney ! Couple questions, if you don't mind me asking. 1. What Cameo are you using ? 2. What engraving tip are you using ? 3. What are you settings set at when you send it through ? 4. How many copies of the design are on top of each other (making sure that they aren't grouped together) when sending through to engrave ?

Our Crafty Chaotic Life I’m using the cameo 3! With the Chomas creations tip. I’m setting speed at 4, a sending it through two times! I think the other setting is thickness and it’s at 33

Which chomas creations tip do you have ? The precision tip or the regular engraving tip ? Also, how many of your design do you have stacked on top of one another ? (meaning do you have 1, 2 or 3 of your actual design on top of one another before sending to be engraved ?)

Honestly, I am unsure of the gauge of the metal blanks that I use. I always use the blanks from Blank Slate at Hobby Lobby & they are the perfect size & gauge. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I love your videos, they have been so informative!! Do you have any suggestions on the bar (nameplate) necklaces?? I've tried your method of cutting out a template on the contact paper, but i'm having the hardest time with the little skinny bars (1 1/2 x 1/4). Do you have a suggestion on the best font to use? Here is a link to some name plates that I have actually engraved on with my Cameo several times & they come out beautifully! =) I hope this helps! =) amzn.to/2TIZG9s As for a template per say, I just made one up when I was engraving them. I'd be happy to make you a template if you'd like, just message me on my Facebook page, Our Crafty Chaotic Life & remind me to make you a template with the dimensions you need & I'll send it right to you. Now as far as fonts, for the bars because they are small, I like to use bolder fonts for them so I usually use something like ChunkFIve EX or something along those lines so that the writing shows up more especially since we want those fonts filled in. You can use a skinnier font that won't need filled in but it will require going over the font so many times that you run the risk of scratching your metal so honestly it just isn't worth it to ruin the piece, in my honest opinion, if that makes sense.

Can you engrave on 14K gold filled blanks? How deep you should go without showing the brass underneath the gold layer? Thank you!

Unfortunately, I haven't ever tried etching on those type of blanks before. When using the etching tool you will want to be sure to use a softer metal. As for depth, I'm not real sure on that either. I always send my designs through to be etched at least 3 times and I double cut each time it goes through so that makes it a total of 9 etches. Depending on your metal blank, some brass may show through, however, with my customers, that is what they really like about their etched pieces. I would say to try it on a sample piece of metal and go from there. Sorry I can't be of more help but please come back and let me know if you try it ! =)

I am in Mississippi too an actually used to live in Pontotoc ! I am in Philadelphia now ! But I would love to maybe get with you one day and say you all what I live learned with different blade and vice versa and also I updated my software like an idiot and it is completely totally different can you please do some tutorials on that and if you have not updated your software I would suggest you not because it is so totally different I cannot figure out how to get it to work; but I'm sure you can or at least we could together !!! thanks

I'm just getting ready to try engraving on my Silhouette Cameo 2 for the first time ever using the Chomas Blade and I'm so glad I found and clicked this specific video before watching a hundred others that would just confuse me. Lol This was perfectly explained, thank you SO much! May be a silly question and you may have explained the 'why' in another video,but I'm a new subscriber so not sure yet...anyhow, why is the contact paper used? Can a person not just put double sided tape under their blank on their sticky cutting mat? Forgive me if I'm missing the obvious,just wanted to ask. ;)

This exact design only took about 5 minutes to engrave, however, each design is different as to how long it takes due to the details & how many layers you put on top of one another. It is amazing what all the cameo can do !

Wow :) I had no idea I cut use my cameo for that certain stuff. One question. Where did you get that engraving blade/pen? Yours fits perfect into holder. I tried to find on ebay, amazon... Nothing like that! Please let me know if you can :)
