Thank you. Can’t wait to see the cuts, embossing, and stamping results

This machine does not stamp, can you explain more of what you mean? It cuts, it will have embossing tools, power engraver, heat pen, and a leather (not real leather) punch tool coming in Fall 2023.

Hi EllyMae! Thanks for putting the Curio 2 to the test. I use the first Curio to cut and etch metal clay. Will the Curio 2 work with metal clay? Maybe taping it down would keep it in place? Can you stop mid etch or cut to see if it's what you expected and have it restart in the same position, like with the original Curio? Thanks!
@SilhouetteSecrets9 ай бұрын
I'm sure you could work with metal clay on a taped down cutting mat with the Curio debris tray. But no, the Curio 2 doesn't pause and reset like the Curio 1 did. I'll have to test that specifically but what I've seen so far, it does not.

Interested to see if it cuts glitter cardstock or how it cuts heavier materials, if the ES mat can hold that material
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
I am not sure I'd recommend that. I'd wait for the debris tray and use a cutting mat inside it. If you get glitter down in the channels on the machine it will cause issues.
@sandybb36 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. So basically the ES mat is for delicate materials and vinyl, sticker paper, etc. I ordered the C2 but cancelled as I want to see more demos (and couldn't hide it from my hubby yet, lol); but definitely order it over S5 as I have a S4 and S1 already. Appreciate your help.
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
@sandybb36 yes, delicate, smooth materials. But I've also cut cardstock too.

I am getting ready to sign up for your beginner acrylic class. Your link for the 12x12 cutting mats do not say they are compatible with the Curio 2. Are they? If so, should I get standard, light or heavy tack? I am really enjoying your videos!
@SilhouetteSecrets10 ай бұрын
Yes. They are compatible with the Curio 2. I use the standard the most and what I would recommend for acrylic etching. The Silhouette website just hasn't been updated. So glad the videos are helped! Thank you!

This electrostatic mat will work for very thin transfer paper like PDB
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
I don't know what PDB is, but it will work with thin materials that are completely smooth and flat with no texture. It has to have the smooth surface to build up the charge and be held to the ES protective mat.

can you use a mat if you want?
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
Yes. You can use a cutting mat on top of the ES bed. I showed how you would do that in the Unboxing video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZWmi6ykdpanpa8

will the business edition be able to connect or is it legacy
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
Silhouette Business Edition is not required. However, you will need to update the software to a version higher than v4.5.735+ or higher in order to connect to any of new Silhouette machines - Curio 2, Cameo 5, or Portrait 4.

Sorry - your gmail is not working. Tried several times and My Swift Creek is still pending but needed to know kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXPXc6Sge7OEjrs if this is doable on Curio 2. The metal dust bothered me and I assumed the debris tray is needed? Also, do you have a source for the metal sheets that are 12x12. Thanks! Really tried to do this in private. Sorry.
@SilhouetteSecrets Жыл бұрын
This is actually not recommended by Silhouette silhouetteamerica.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/35000227669-silhouette-curio-overview The Curio 1 tools were not designed for etching with the Curio 2 in Tool 1 housing. Tool 1 housing was not designed or tested for etching. Tool 2 housing is the only one recommended for etching. The debris tray should always be used when etching, or you risk any debris getting inside the channels of your machine. If that happens, it can affect the function of the machine and lifespan. That is completely and 100% on the user, and if you do this with your machine, you assume the risks 100%. While some users show things being done in the machines, they rarely disclose that it could have risks or not he covered under the machines warranty.

I have not found a source for larger metal plates. Every location may be different in what they can source.

@@SilhouetteSecrets it is why I asked. I was curious but also nervous about trying. I will wait or drag the curio 1 out. Thank you. I may be a cowboy at times trying things but for not want to ruin this machine
