CBN is second to diamond. Also it fries and breaks down and leaves a nicer finish than diamond. Fav abrasive

is diamond stones the only ones that can sharpen ceramic steel or zirconium dioxide as it's also called, recently bought borried stones because i didn't realise it was ceramic steel

I guess, only diamond stones can sharpen ceramic steel well. On galvanic binder works better.

How soft of a metal can i use on silicon carbide stones on HRC hardness scale? I've bought some silicon barbide stones from gritomatic as far as I know only harder metals should be used on them, but what if I have metals that are 57 on HRC scale, is that okay to use silicon carbide on them?

Don't worry, there is no problem using a very soft steel on a very hard stone. The harder stone just cuts faster the softer the steel.

Carborundum is way harder than slate and steel so use it.

I have a stone, silicone carbide, but no mention anywhere if I should uße water or oil? Is there a way to tell?

That depends on its bonding agent. As a rule, SC are used with water. but there're some exceptions. It's better google it to know for sure.

Oil is for natural whetstones. Carborundum is used for wet sanding all the time.
