At 9:10, the text says to move the blade left or right to adjust the bevel tip width but the illustration only shows the clamp moving away/towards the frame center. The blade tip stays at the frame center in both illustrations. Is the illustration incorrect?

Yes, I am getting ready to purchase the Hunter and would happily give up the wooden box and the factory stones for the Venev upgrade.

With my K03, over 2.5 years I am averaging 25 knives a week of varying lengths, from 8 inch chefs to paring and, edc knives with exotic steels. I would make the investment in metal bonded or cbn if someone could assure me that they would be cost-effective over Atoma diamond plates. I buy the 3x8 replacement plates and process them into 1x6s which I adhere to my blanks. I do have some waste, but I average about 8 weeks on my coarse and mediums and 12-14 weeks on the fine. All in all, for an approximate investment of $200 I get about 6 months of use. Would metal bonded or cbn offer value like that? I would have to get about 1,250 knives per set to break even with the metal bonded vs Atoma.

Yes! I’d rather have the better stones than the”fancy” wood box my K03 Hunter came packaged in, that I’d never use anyhow, and with shedding insert foam that’s barely one time use🙄

At the end of the sharpening process, you said that you increased the angle to remove the burr. So did you raise the angle 20 to 21 or did you lower it say 20dps to 19 dps. Thanks.
@ruftime
@ruftime 12 күн бұрын
You raise.5-1 degree for stropping. I find it depends on how soft/hard the leather/felt strop is, so you don’t round the edge.

Hello Jack, I recently purchased the Ko3 Pro Hunter. All of my knives are Japanese, with an HRC of 63 or so, made from metals such as blue steel, VG10, AuS, high carbon super steel, and so on. Could you please recommend the best stone for sharpening these types of metals to achieve a razor-sharp edge? I just bought the silicone carbide from your web for 113.00 , now, I am wondering if I should have bought the 504,00 Dimond set or the aluminum oxide which would go easy on the knives. Could you give your input Thank you for your time

I bought some of the Venev resin bonded stones and most of them were so bowed (up to ~1mm) you could see light under the aluminum base. This was beginning 2022 so I could not return them by the time they arrived to me. It threw me off the brand.

After finishing the sharpening process and debur with last stone (let us say last diamond stone is F1500) how should I strop with leather or balsa strop with paste? Should I strop with higher grit pasta with convex adapter or without it?
@TSPROFSharpening
@TSPROFSharpening 15 күн бұрын
If you want to strop a standard V-shaped edge you'll not need the convex adapter. Simply increase the angle by 0.2/0.3 degrees and use paste of the same gritness or higher.

QUESTION: I have the KO3 Pro. I calibrated with the 14 degree calibration plate because I have the new Axicube that the rod goes through. I also have the single spring clamp. Do I need to recalibrate it or since it is calibrated at 14 degrees for the original clamps, is it already calibrated for the single spring clamp?? I didn't get a definite answer from this video or anywhere else.
@TSPROFSharpening
@TSPROFSharpening 15 күн бұрын
No, you simply calibrate your Axicube once and then you can use it with any clamp you like.

I’m a huge fan of convex edges on large field knives, and usually use a slack belt grinder and finish on a buffer, but want a simpler solution for the K03 Pro Hunter. I have the previous K03 Pro convex attachment with the three 4.3°, 7.2°, 10.7° angle adjustments marked on the side, with the thumb wheel tightener, but this one looks simpler to use. Thanks for the first look. 👍
