It's a combination of qualities. First, we like Dinesh, and he hates Gabe, and Gabe keeps getting the better of him obliviously. Then there's the odd incongruities in Gabe himself. He looks kind of buff but kind of fat at the same time. Is he white, asian, hispanic? Some mix? I can't tell, he could be any of the above. Then there's the fact that he works in tech so he must be intelligent but he's a completely oblivious airheaded boob. But mostly it's his personality. What kind of douche walks around in a wearable chair barefoot through the office? Rejecting homemade cookies? Asking someone to e-mail him something they've already e-mailed him because he doesn't want to have to "search his inbox"? "Will I need a coat to go to lunch with you? And if so, can I borrow a coat?" He's that acquaintance who invites themselves to someone's house for free dinner.

​@@dreamzbg9477they never explain it. A girl in the show simply asks the same question. Why are you called Dinesh if you're from Pakistan? But they never talk about it again. My theory initially was that he's a Hindu from Pakistan, but he CLEARLY says it himself that he is Muslim, and they don't believe in karma. And his cousins he mentions in the show have Muslim names. Basically it just doesn't add up. Looks like a mistake by the show writers.
