I am a little disappointed about the new map guy. I was REALLY hoping that if Silksong were a sequel, then Conifer AND his wife would be the map characters together. Would've shown a flourishing of their relationship.

It’s a different kingdom so we will have complete new characters!

@@SilksongWeb That it's a different kingdom is what makes it work. Conifer and his wife didn't live in Hollownest. They traveled there, for the sake of Conifer's map making business/obsession. But since the player was the only one to buy anything from them (wife mentions that), and the chance to map out a new region would certainly entice Conni quite a lot, it feels like the natural progression would've been for them to show up. Conifer's wife (sorry, her name completely escapes me) mentions at one point that perhaps she should join him in his mapping. Would've been nice to have seen that. And heck, where Conifer is more about stealth and hiding, she could've been more about offense. She was bigger than him, and looked fit, for a cartoon bug.

The ending to the first game is still ambiguous, because this story does not seem to focus much on that of Hallownest. Sure, Hornet leaves, but that appears to be the only connection, even according to a Team Cherry AMA, if I remember correctly

silksong's hard mode being brought up made me think of something. what if all the steel related enemies we see are actually exclusive to the hard mode, just like how steel soul jinn was exclusive to steel soul mode. the only steel enemy we've seen so far looked pretty tanky, could fly and had an omnidirectional laser, plus the knight's attacks did nothing to steel soul jinn, and these beings are also made of steel, so it would make sense if they were hardmode exclusive. as well, the one described looked really out of place in it's environment, like it's not supposed to be there under normal circumstances

To be fair, one complain I hava about Hollow Knight is the fact that, in my opinion, the game isn't very clear sometimes on what you are supposed to do to unlock some specific contents, including major ones. If you take Godhome for example, you need a key to unlock the sarcophagus in the sewers. If you already collected all the original ones, then it means the last remaining key is in the Colosseum of Fools, but it's like not that obvious to find, especially if you don't know you are supposed to look here. (Your first instinct would naturally be to look around the sewers, next to where the sarcophagus is) Also, to unlock the game's other endings (aka battling the Radiance), you need to get the Void Heart, which requires bringing the Kingsoul to the bottom of the Abyss (this alone isn't very obvious I think). And then you find a secret zone containing what looks like an inanimate object (the Knight's egg), which you have to Dream Nail. My issue with this is that it's the only instance in the game where using the Dreamnail on something that is not a bug or a corpse does something. 😵‍💫 I'm not complaining about super well hidden contents, these are good. But I think major contents like a whole new game mode or something unlocking a new ending shouldn't be easily missable, and I hope Silksong fixes that. 😅
