I honestly think that the commonly held thought that “Corrin is boring” just really goes to show how pea-brained the average Smash player is. Corrin is incredibly cool, fun, and technical, with exciting combos you have to actually think about rather than just memorize. She’s way cooler than “hype” characters like Ganon or Falcon.

I'm so happy you've decided to give Corrin a try (or rather, the chat did =). They are so underrated, and in spite of the harsh nerfs from Sm4sh to Ultimate, they are still very strong. I understand the whole "not another Fire Emblem Character" thing, but i've never felt like they're unnecessarily added more so than (insert example). I really appreciate it!

In regards to Dark Samus, I believe 'it' would be correct. While not being just the suit, Dark Samus is an entity of phazon, which is essentially a sentient mineral that is both very radioactive and very evil. At the end of Metroid Prime 1, we see Samus' phazon suit being pulled off of her by the dying Metroid Prime. Later, we see a hand emerge from a bubbling pool of phazon, which we can assume is Dark Samus even though the colors are different.

Correct, the hand that emerges from the puddle was where Metroid Prime laid, so it's believed to be Metroid Prime in the phazon suit which makes up Dark Samus. Prime 2 Echoes also confirms this when you see the body in the suit.

Having played and mended Corrin since day 1, makes me happy to see you explained her basics so well and tried making her work to the best of your ability in only 3 days :) I still play Corrin to this day but I'm more-so on the techy side of things. Corrin might not have much tech but her planking if used correctly has really good potential. She's top tier at edgeguarding, scary as hell at the ledge, top 3 set of aerials in the game (yes, I think her aerial kit is better than Mythra's), and overall just still has tools to be a really really good character. Also, Corrin loses bad to Samus, don't feel bad about your R1 XD

Dark Samus can be seen as a “she” since Dark Samus is a mix between Samus’ DNA, Phazon, and Metroid Prime. But Metroid Prime in itself isn’t specifically gendered.

12:00 Dark Samus isnt quite just a suit, but it is an "it". Like with the SA-X from metroid fusion, dark samus is a singular creature so where samus has a suit around her body, the body of dark samus just happens to be in the shape of a suit. Still wish she and other echo fighters had unique movesets of their own but at least dark samus got a lot of custom flair on her moves unlike daisy. And you know what, while im commenting, i would like to recommend Ridley for the 3 day challenge. Love watching that character and he is very interesting to play as well.

Dark Samus is the reborn form of Metroid Prime. After it was defeated by Samus in the first game it absorbed her phazon suit and became Dark Samus, first appearing in Metroid Prime 2 Echos.

I feel like Corrin, although having a decent neutral, bad disadvantage, and good advantage, struggles to find "explosive openings" or momentum. You just kind of need to consistently outgrind/outplay your opponent. Feels like a huge hill to climb when your opponent has a lead. Also, all those tech roll in's vs ZSS were rough to watch 😢 MU knowledge check there: her biggest rewards always come from punishing that roll in with downsmash. Good Corrin showing though!!!

As a Diddy main with a Corrin secondary I did not realize the ledge trapping potential that neutral b has in combination with side b. I always thought the best way to cover options was to space back air and try to read their option. Thanks for showing me some great options that I can use :)

You should try implementing a fast wavedash into your gameplay, it depends on the character but its great for positioning and mixups. Do it with grab button instead of shield to get an actual melee like wavedash and remember: maximum is 2 after each other, after that you have to wait for at least 2 seconds (1 second for each wavedash so they'll refresh, otherwise they will become slow). It really is worth it so please try it Edit: Great under platforms to reposition and also dashes towards your opponent and then wavedashing back to make them whiff a potential attack

Great matches! I always enjoy watching Sillin's tournament play! I always appreciate the amount of thought that goes into each players' moves to capitalize on an opponent's disadvantage. Sillin ran into a lot of Samuses (Sami?) 😅 I don't remember much from Smash 4, but was Corrin better in Smash 4 than Ultimate? I vaguely recall Corrin's counter in Smash 4 being a bit ridiculous, but I might be misremembering.

One thing I'll say is that Counter Surge is a useful but unique counter. It's not meant for edgegaurding like all the others. Counter Surge is for stopping a juggle from the opponent or starting a juggle yourself. Treating it like how it was in 4 Wii U/3Ds should be rare and in high percentage or from a strong move at mid percentage. In Free for All/Doubles it has good crowd control. Hopefully this gives a better understanding of the move.

Using counter as an edgeguard tool is still viable to rack up damage (or taking early stocks on someone recovering high) and it will still kill some recoveries like ness'

Dark Samus is the Phazon Queen parasite from an intersected Impact Crater, she took the Phazon suit from the real Samus and turns into Dark Samus in the next game of that series. Dark Samus has feminine qualities but is animalistic at best, she takes the female like appearance do to the female suit she absorbs. However, she is just Phazon in a suit, so classifying her as an "it" is not that big of a deal.

Honestly, I liked the character better before, when she was heavier and her strategy consisted mostly of some simple combos and timing long range attacks to maximize her damage. Then they made the character faster and nerfed some of her launch (especially NAir and FAir) and she became another "Fire Emblem swordsman clone" but with minor tweeks...

Dark Samus is technically genderless as it is the Metroid Prime. They are referred to by feminine pronouns most of the time due to being a mixture of Samus's DNA and Phazon. Although later in the series they become a fully Phazon being. Basically. She/It pronouns would technically work for Dark Samus.

Hi Sillintor; one of my friends plays Terry and Kazuya, and more often than not just shield + jabs or spot dodge + jabs into victory... (He's also 12.9m GSP to my ~11 mill) How do I deal with this? He complains if I run and gun, which is the only mildly effective option (as in I win 1 match out of 30) I've found... any other tips to beating these stupid auto-turn characters? (Doesn't help that my characters tend to be slower in neutral / slow grabs [Yoshi/Samus/etc.])
