I would venture to say that Dr. Mario is a very pure character. No gimmicks beside the pill. But really its very good for spacing and approches. And yet Dr. Mario forces you to get in close and personal to punish. Its funny to see how many players aren't ready for the amount of close combat aggression because they are looking to keep the opponent at a distance then closing the gap to kill. Also Dr. Mario is good for training your combo game since some of his hits shoot the opponent in funky directions compared to Mario, and yet you find yourself making moves that you wouldn't have made before with standard Mario.
