I've owned so many Mont Blanc pens, I've lost count. I've constantly bought and sold them throughout my obsession. I've sold my 144, 146, 149, Mozart, Starwalker, Blue Hour Solitaire, and on and on and on. I will never consider, even once, to sell my Boheme. I love that pen. It writes like a dream and I can't stop fidgeting with it when I have it inked. I actually see the process of extruding the nib as a kind of pageantry that builds the excitement to an absolute crescendo to the possibilities of what could be written... eggs, milk, cheese, bread. Enjoy your Boheme, it will be with you for a long, long time. Good luck on your seach for the right ink. Great review!

Nice review as always, Olivier. Montblanc used to sell a special cleaning cartridge for the Boheme, but whether they do now or not I don't know. I have seen one for sale in the past on ebay, and it wasn't expensive. I use the same ink in all my pens, so I didn't bother. I have three now, one of which is the more expensive gold plated doue metal cap with a textured barrel. I don't use them every day, but when I do, I am always charmed and pleased by them. So much clever engineering in all of its mechanisms! The black resin models came in three sizes: the small (which you have and mine are as well); a medium retracting nib; and a large, non-retractable nib. Not as many medium and large Bohemes were produced, so the prices for them are higher. I've never seen the large Boheme offered for less than $1,300 used. There is a cult following as you mentioned. People tend to either like them or not like them from a photo or an online review, but they are charmingly seductive if you actually own and use one. Like you I would not take this pen out of the house because any damage would be expensive to repair, but then the same thing can be said for other expensive pens as well.

I got mine in 2000 and still have it, it’s a beautiful looking little pen

Your video inspired me and I got a wonderful Boheme for a great price at the Philly Pen Show! Love it!

I'm new to your channel. Great review! Great to see another young person like myself into pens. I just sent my boheme off for repair, and I'm wondering if the fact I've been unable to properly flush it out is the reason for its awful writing performance recently

Excellent video. Thank you. I still use the one I bought in 2006 (blue stone) all of the time at work. Broad nib writes really well. I have never bonded with any. of the other retractable pens. It is no big deal to use cartridges, but is such a pain to clean so I stick to Mb Royal blue cartridges.

Is that a Namiki you've got there? Oh my, it looks gorgeous. Can't wait for that review!

It’s the ASC Pavarotti 3! Very odd and fun pen.

That is an interesting pen. I've always wondered why these pens were made with such a complicated mechanism. And I think the answer is in your title: "Silly".
@jaystone48162 жыл бұрын
Sure it's silly, but it carries all the charm of well-made, small objects with amazing mechanical mechanisms. It's not just the extension/retraction of the nib, it's also has a marvelous little mechanism to extract or insert a new cartridge. It's an object to enjoy as well as write with. It's not a "business" pen to open quickly and start writing in meetings or just another pen like every other pen.

I just find that these pens exist, and as a girl who SWORE she’d never touch a montblanc…. I have been swayed 😍. Now I’ll be on the lookout for a beautiful pen like this 😍😍😍

You and me both. I still laugh, when I think about when I paid over $20.00 for a fountain pen and how crazy I thought that was lol. But I was coming from the world of gel pens.

When closed, oddly reminiscent of old rapidograph tech pens. Très cool.

Great point! The caps are a very familiar shape

I always wanted this pen but never gave cleaning it a thought until now! It is indeed quite difficult to clean. There is always a chance of water getting into the retracting mechanism and possibly corroding them?

You´re the best! :D. Idont know this model at all but wondering... Can´t you clean the pen like i clean most of my pens. Snip the back end of that long cartridge and push water through with a bulb syringe. Maybe I don´t get the problem... I use this way for efficiency when you put the tip of the bulb syringe in the back hole of cartridge no water escapes besides what runs through the pen.I have a cut off cartrige for every brand of pen I have.

That retractable nib thing is weird. I was not expecting that.😂 I guess it is not the kind of pen to grab when you’re in a hurry.
@oliveboypens2 жыл бұрын
It’s a funny pen for that reason! It’s a pocket pen that takes a solid 30 seconds for it to be ready to write with 🤭

I’ve had both the recalled Noir et Noir and now a Paso Doble Rouge… and they’re certainly seductive little pens. Annoying to clean, though.
@jcastano2 жыл бұрын
Why not use a bulb syringe to clean it? That's what I use for all of my cartridge-convertor pens and it was fine in the Boheme.

@@bfrostweaver I've heard that but I'm not quite sure based on what I read on FPN. I haven't seen a ton of evidence that all this worry if really worth it.

I would love to have that pen if it wasn't so prone to having ink accidents. It's still so fun though.
@oliveboypens2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, this one is pretty safe when it comes to ink- it’s cartridge only, so no worries about bottles or anything
