Good content 👍 well said about Phuket and other areas. Totally agree 💯%. Ignore the expat advice as it is exaggerated for views… just go experience it . Thailand is… up to you 👍

I was in Chiang Mai in February for the month. I stayed at a hotel in Lamphun. I absolutely fell in love with it there I am working towards moving to Chiang Mai for a year or two to experience a different way of living than how I live in the US. I never felt unsafe even at midnight walking around the city. I do not drink nor do I go to bars or night life stuff. I did have a couple waitresses assume because I was American I would want to drink beer. One of the waitresses looked very confused when I said I didn't drink alcohol she was a sweetheart we had a good laugh. I made a bunch of friends most of which I am still in contact with. I dated a few Thai women while I was there and I had to argue with them to not do 50/50 and let me pay for our dates. Nothing but good things to say about my trip and I find myself thinking about Chiang Mai even now while back home in the US. I am still learning to speak and write in Thai so I can better interact with people on my next trip. I ignore most people's "Advice" now when it comes to Thailand most don't know what they are talking about they are just going based on KZbin or their own debauchery when in the country. The only issues I had while in Thailand was from expats or tourists. I find it disgusting at the lack of respect some of the expats have either for Thailand as a whole or of the Thai people. Complaining about everything one expat actually complained that more Thai people didn't speak better English. After living in Thailand for 10 years he didn't speak any Thai and expected the Thai people to speak English for him. After a month I spoke more Thai than he did after all that time living there. วิดีโอที่ยอดเยี่ยม! ฉันรอคอยการเดินทางครั้งต่อไปที่เชียงใหม่ หวังว่าคราวนี้จะนานกว่าหนึ่งเดือน

It sounds like you had an amazing experience in Chiang Mai! It's great to hear how much you loved the city and the connections you made. Your commitment to learning Thai will definitely enhance your interactions next time! And you're absolutely right, many people can have skewed perspectives based on their own experiences. Respecting the local culture and language really goes a long way. Thanks for sharing your journey! 😊

I live and work here. I could write 10 books about. However. People who don’t speak English …. Never been there …. THAILAND Sir. THAILAND. Do you speak Thai? No? So you’ve never been there. The whole world has to speak 10 different languages. While you English speaking people cannot even articulate in your own language. It sucks.

Palm, going on 5 months living in Bangkok and still Loving it. I live in Huai khwang, and I like the area quite a bit. I have to agree about listening to advice from expats that make no sense. and it's hard to filter out the noise from the gem. as usual I go my own way. just came back from a weekend in Phuket. although really I didn't see anything of it except for the transfer from airport to our hotel which was on the south end near the aquarium. quiet but pricey. I wouldn't go back. heading next week to ubon to spend some time with my girlfriend's family near Kantalak. there are different areas in Thailand as it's a big country. from sea level living to high up in the mountains. to living near a rice field or in a 30-story condo. the choice is yours. up to you. as far as learning the Thai language I'm struggling with that as at 66 I don't hear like I used to so tones are difficult for me. I've seem to be a little bit lazy on it too. but next week is a new week. I enjoyed the video!

Another great video Palm. I love the perspective you bring and how much it differs from most other Creators. They are mostly Farang men although some do incorporate their Thai wives as an integral part of the channel. Only thing to add on the working in Thailand as a farang - Visas matter. When I retire there I will not be able to work on a Retirement Visa.

When moving to Thailand, it’s important to sift through the advice you receive and figure out what’s sensible and what’s based on outdated or exaggerated views. Many misconceptions can hinder your experience rather than enhance it. Focus on learning about the local culture, laws, and the practicalities of living in Thailand, and ignore the overly simplistic or downright silly advice that might steer you wrong.

Well said! It's all about filtering out the noise and focusing on what's truly helpful for living in Thailand. 😊

As a black man, I always felt 100% safe and appreciated in Thailand. The food, culture, and people are all great. The little problems I had were other foreigners I would not single out here. I enjoyed the cities as well as the suburbs. I met my wife of 8 years there and built a nice vacation home on her farm. I've traveled all over the world and found Thailand to be a real paradise. I hope this will encourage anyone thinking about going there to plan that trip to see for yourself! 🙏

I like how respectfully you talked about the tourist situation in Phuket. Im from America and was in Thailand for my 2nd time this summer and am absolutely in love with the country and specifically the Thai people. One of the things that I found awful was how there was one nationality that almost unanimously treated the people with extreme disrespect and as if they were servants. There were others that had bad manners and seemed to have little to no respect for being guests in another country… but I know what you were referring to specifically and it was awful to see while I was in Phuket!

All great information Palm. Alot of expat advice is exaggerated or biased to get attention. Some is based on the limited experiences they've had because of the decisions they've made and what the perception of what they thought Thailand would be like. Some people travel overseas to escape their poor decisions and behavior only to bring their behavior with them.

@@ScooterOnHisWay2024 Phuket had become very commercial way before the Russians or the Chinese started going there. By the early 2000's it was getting over run and had become a mainstream destination spot known world wide. I've seen it change from 1980 when there wasn't even electricity on beaches like Karon, Kata and Kata noi. No bars no massage every where. Just simple village life, where you knew all the local people, Thai's from the north and isan hadn't yet started to go there for work.
