These Soldiers are fulfilling one half of their regimental mandate, which is to provide ceremonial escorts and guards to the ruling monarch. The other half of their duty is as advance reconnaissance troops utilising armoured veh which may at any time be deployed to war zones. In other words, these young men and women may well be in a theatre of war in a year. They are acting soldiers.

A slim tough looking no nonsense soldier. Immaculate turned out and a credit to those who went before him. In a battlefield this soldier could still do the business as those that went before him but in a light tank etc. I was part of the Army myself a lot of years ago and can appreciate this soldier for the man he is. You are looking at the No1 ceremonial Dress uniform, camouflage is DPM Disruptive Pattern Material Camo for field use, you also have No2`s , and Mess uniforms. There is also lightweight denims with short sleeve order (summer) and long sleeve order with heavy olive green jumper (winter).

This guard I’ve seen several times in these videos, both as the Gatesman and as Horse Guard, he doesn’t put up with any nonsense but I’m also pretty sure he moves slightly closer when it’s kids, as they are more scared to get too close and I’m almost positive it was him that moved closer for a photo with a special needs kid and his father, which was very sweet.

That one really bothered me, because both were too close and laughing in front of this officer, definitely shows a lack of respect. Even solders have their own private bubble. It’s sad that nothing is put in place to block both the horse and the soldiers. This creator is filming and I am sure they can see his equipment and yet they don;t even try to quiet down or at least to move away from him. People have lost all sense of manners.

This unit of the Household Cavalry Regiment is in fact an armoured reconnaissance unit that saw action in both world wars, The Falklands, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
