"Long in the growing, swift shall they be in the felling and unless they pay toll with fruit upon bough, little mourned in their passing." I love that line in this chapter when Yavanna talks about her trees. Sad but true.

Never thought about Yavanna as the creator of Ents. But you have a point here. Also reference to sacrificial of Isaac is a good spot.

This chapter gives a lot of insight into the dwarves' nature- it was a very interesting read! A short chapter, but tells a lot of what is to come... Yavanna did get an answer to her request in two ways- the Eagles and the Ents. 🙂

I never knew why the Elves and Dwarves hated each other.... basically its just them fighting over who gets more attention from Dad

It dawns on me that Yavanna must have had permission or access to the secret fire... she made the olvar and the kelvar.... and they had life.... many hung out with the other valar and learned to speak or understand speech. Just as Melian lent her power to Thingol, why couldn't Yavanna's power rub off on her husband a bit? I mean, Manwe had the Eagles, right? Orome is horses and hounds.... anyway, just thinking on the screen here.
@lfwinesroad33993 жыл бұрын
You make a good point that Ilúvatar would have granted permission for the secret fire to be added to the creatures that Yavanna created. Because after all, only He has the power to grant it.

@@lfwinesroad3399 These are SOOO good, I have to go thru them again. Nobody does this like you do. I'm thinking that "conception" must be the moment that Eru gives his "permission".... or that access to the secret fire. The reason Aule could not do this is that he tried to do it in secret, but Eru always knows.....

Maybe the women, since they are the only ones with the power to create life, simply have that access to the secret fire.... IDK.
