HAVE YOU READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE SILO SERIES? What did you think of the first episode?

Jules WAS digging into George in the books. Remember she was spending time on the computer obsessing over all the files? Lukas is such a huge part of the story at various points I wonder how they'll replace him if that's the direction they go.. I think the door is still open though for them to bring him back into the story. This upcoming section of the story is where they really start to connect, even though he is already a much more major character in the books already.

Good intro to the new silo and how she gets to the door at the end with Solo, but....I appreciated this more in the book how she basically has barely any light, she cuts her suit off and is essentially naked and finds a tablecloth. explores a lot and then how her knife holding a door open in a corridor is gone and she hears foots steps and runs after Solo and catches up to him. I can't wait to see more of that relationship in the tv show.

Thank you for this great feedback. Keep it coming. As a big book fan, I assumed the tablecloth would be skipped... but I thought the soup was hilarious for washing off the toxins AND when reading, I was afraid that she'd gotten locked in the refrigerator when she searched for the soup :)

The Lukas changes bother me the most from book to show. Without him as the shadow, how does she call and talk to him? So curious how this is gonna go!
@DoublePMedia6 күн бұрын
Surprised that I don't get more feedback similar to yours. The show cut Lukas' story and he "didn't have a point" in season 1. Fingers crossed they can find a way to fix this in season 2.
@lydiaknits2 күн бұрын
I think they have to resolve it with a 'if you can't beat them, recruit them' way. He HAS to be where he was in the books, so I think Bernard will be overruled.

I'm not going to ask how you know that :) - joking. Have you read Wool?
@TimsRetroCorner6 күн бұрын
I just had a thought: was the rebellion in Silo 17 the direct result of a failed cleaning? (as per The Order) I don't recall the book ever giving a reason (cos I think we saw it through Solo's recollection, and why would he know?). Maybe they had someone like Jules that disappeared over the rim, and presumably was never seen again...? With Lukas effectively out of the picture, I wonder who's gonna (mumble mumble) in the (mumble mumble) room? We have no one "friendly" in IT...
@DoublePMedia6 күн бұрын
Re-reading back half of Wool at the moment ; the rebellion/Silo 17 backstory is the later books Shift & Dust. Don't remember if it started via a failed cleaning. Gonna to talk even more on next week's spoiler pod on Lukas' change from the books

@@DoublePMedia ok, cool. It's been a couple of years since I last read the books, so I guess I'm a bit hazy...
@lydiaknits2 күн бұрын
not a failed cleaning. it's covered more in shift. its skimmed over quickly but there was none of the 'usual signs' of rebellion, but was the result of talking to yet another silo..

How many seasons would it take to cover all 3 books ? 10?😂
@DoublePMedia6 күн бұрын
WONDERFUL QUESTION: At this pace, they'd need at least 6 seasons to finish the story told in the trilogy of books --- yet the showrunner and star say they'll be done in 4. Either they're cutting stuff from book 2 or the pace will pick up.
@waynerogers8643 күн бұрын
@@DoublePMedia after watching the 1st episode this season I immediately thought they would never be able to complete the trilogy at the pace they're going. I'm guessing the Judge Meadows character is going to be the vehicle by which they will be telling the origin story of the silos. Her 25 year bender suggests she learned of the founders and their ultimate plan or outcome when she was shadowing Bernard. Lukas will be brought back from the mines by Bernard. I thought it was a bad idea to let him be free down there to tell what he knows to hundreds of other folks. lt's better to lock him in the vault and hopefully bring him on board as a willing shadow. He was in love with Juliette not her "rebellious" goals.
