@@gregoriobell2736 There are cops that try to be good but they won’t last. The problem is they are too afraid to speak out against other cops doing wrong out of retaliation. If they do speak up and take action they will get into trouble and fired. So it’s fall in line or risk being fired.

The Officer should also sue the district attorney. The D.A. is going to be spanked very hard by the jury. Plus the Officer should file a complaint with the F.B.I for federal charges against the jail workers for kidnapping and against the District Attorney for corruption.

It's usually up to the jail to accept or refuse an arrested individual. If they need to be medically cleared then the arrested person is still in the custody of the arresting officer & therfore it would be the arresting officers responsibility to take his prisoner to the hospital for medical clearance. It is NOT the jails responsibility to do so unless the prisoner was accepted by the jail. Then and only then could the jail take the prisoner to the hospital. Since there are too many unknowns in this news report I would have to assume there is more to the story on the side of the officer & the jail. I'm just pointing out what our policy said when I worked corrections at a jail in years past. I'd have to know the whole backstory first. For instance, maybe the jail had an emergency & had to lock down everyone until the emergency or threat was eliminated or maybe head count was being conducted and hadn't been secured yet when the officer was there & that's why he couldn't leave until count was secured etc. Too many unknowns.

The nurse is not a dr and therefore can’t clear him. She can be sued by his family if she cleared him because some police officer said that she had to and he had a seizure and died. There is no state law that says that a nurse who is not licensed dr to go outside of her nurse lic scope!! The jail needs a dr on staff but wait there is no money for that!!!

We need to round up officers like this... and pay them more, after moving them to a community made up of other decent humans.. start raising good people in a good moral way then that new generation can start spreading out in large enough numbers to make a difference elsewhere.. ridiculous idea? Most jails the arresting officer is responsible to have the person cleared. They won’t take the person into custody otherwise. Which means that Officer must leave with the guy he arrested. He’s a good officer. But he has to get the person cleared.

I don't believe the jail is in the wrong here. They don't take custody of an arrestee if they need to be seen by outside medical. Medical services in most jails are limited. Cops don't like guarding their arrestees in ERs. They view their job as arresting and someone else does the guarding. Ive witnessed cops driving their arrestees around the corner and letting them go to avoid seeking medical services for them. But jails are also trying to manage their limited resources. This lawsuit is a joke and the attorney representing the cop is wrong. More tax payer dollars being wasted.
