The Roro AX22 spool makes pitching and short casting even easier. The low, flat trajectory makes casting more accurate and also decreases the chance of line getting caught in brush. Being that the Gekkabijin is more of a distance oriented casting reel, the Roro AX22 will compliment the stock spool quite well and allow the angler to fish the widest spectrum of BFS fishing with one reel.
AX22 upgrades from the previous AX24:
1. Titanium alloy central shaft brake end is embedded with a rotating ceramic 2mm ball to reduce friction and to ensure more free rotation.

I used BFS for multi species but haven't try to catch trout. One day, I will catch a trout. Mostly I catch Bass, Crappie, Bream, Sunfish, white bass...I also caught catfish too by accident ... 😂

Compared to the KTF and Avail spools I have used, Roro is right up there with them. Roro bearings were loud at first but, the last year or so Roro really made them better.

It is a rod from China called Chinese Hooksnout Carp. I would suggest the Palms Egeria rod I talk about in my most recent video. Better taper and just overall built better. About the same price as well from Digitaka.

Hi hobie. I am new to bfs but have fallen in love with this style of fishing. I have the Daiwa steez ct sv tw 700hl. I use it for smallmouth in small streams. I would like to put a lighter roro spool in it and put it on a small trout rod. Does roro make one for that reel? Would you recommend this reel for trout? Roro does make a spool for the Steez CT. I have used it and it works great. There are many factors for trout rods. The Jackson Kawasemi Rhapsody KWSM-C47L-T has been a favorite of mine for this year. Portable and versatile.

Thanks man) I use the very first version of Roro spool on my Steez Air TW. For braid and microjigs. Weight 4,6 gr with bearing. Now waiting for Gekka (not sure I am ready for new ss air without additional spools) and will need another spool for fluoro and chub fishing (2-3 gr lures). Is this spool ok for fluoro or mono?

Daiwa now has different kinds of spools for it Air TW line..The Gekkabejin, Alphas Air TW and Silver Creek Stream Custom each have a unique spool. There are two or three aftermarket spools now available for these reels too. @@oscher8249 I wouldn't buy both unless you have a reason to (different line on each spool). The thickened model is just fine for 3gr and up. If going really light, the standard model is a little better.

AX22 and AX24 have some minor difference. The AX22 is slightly lighter and has some minor improvements. The stock spool in the Gekkabijin will cast further in open water.

I bought the new roro spool and installed it in the silver creek. the spool clatters when reeling in, it's pretty noticeable in my hand. Is it the same for you? how much line (0.6 varivas supertrout advance) do you put on the spool? it says on the internet that it would be recommended to wind up 70m 0.6, i think it's too much.

I usually divide up my spools based on capacity and needs. if you have 100m of line, 25m, 33m or 50m depending on my needs. That gets me 4, 3, or 2 reels-worth of line per spool of line. For the noise, you may hear the bearings a little more because they are hybrid ceramic. The spool lighter and ported will transmit those vibrations more than the stock spool.

The Steez AIR spool will not fit. Roro makes a 30mm spool for the CV 70 SV that is really nice.
