I hope that it helps Nanny. If not, I hope that you find something that helps her through the heat.

The weather has broken anyway, so we may not get the best out of it.

LOL. "Make the house damp and then use the dehumidifier to get rid of the dampness". 🤣 My wife bought me a thing like that a couple of years back, except it was a lot smaller. I was using it in my hut. It was battery or mains-operated but the difference was that you put ice in it. It also had a sponge which you soaked in cold water. The fan then blew over the ice and cold air came out. The problem was that it was so warm the ice melted in about ten minutes. 😂🤣 If the weather was like this all the time I would probably buy a portable air conditioner. I looked them up on Amazon and they were pretty expensive. Around £250 to £300 and up. It would probably be a waste of money as we don't get this temperature all the time. Maybe you could try adding some ice to the water with the one you have and see if it actually helps to cool the room down. I have a better idea. Why don't you do what you did before? You know, when you used a string and a cardboard sheet. Then you just needed to pull the string and cool the wife down. Oh, don't forget to put on your mankini or you may overheat too. 🤣🤣🤣 I have ordered a string-type mankini. You know, like a string vest but made into a mankini. My wife says if I go into the garden with it on she will leave me. 🤔

I am not sure how the "mister" works. I suspect it is like a Vape with a heater. I don't want to take it apart to find out (yet), having just paid a stupid amount of money for it. £24.99 for something that is basically a fancy fan. As for the mankini, I am not sure I would have admitted to buying one on social media 😂

One of your comments has disappeared, you may have deleted it. It appears in my email notifications, but not here and not hidden by the filter. I have done a little research now and I think you are 100% right. Looks like it will be an ultrasonic mist maker. I have ordered a module off eBay just so I can play around with it. @@mikeflight9

@@GrandadsOtherChannel I think KZbin removed it. 😆 A couple of innocent remarks could have been taken the wrong way so the bots would remove it. Regarding the Ultrasonic Mist Modules. I had a look at them on eBay and it looks like the price has gone up since I bought mine. I see they are selling ordinary small transducers. The type you would find in an earphone plug. Like the one you have for the electronic projects kit. I also noticed that they come with a circuit board that will create high frequencies. The one I had was a plug-in-and-go module like those silver ones with the LEDs attached. They must have the circuit built inside them. 👌👍👍

@mikeflight1417 usually those comments go into the "held for review", but youtube does what it wants anyway. The module I have ordered runs two transducers and has pretty leds. It was a little over £3 including postage. There were plenty to choose from, listed cheaper, but when you checked the listing, the price shown was for a different module and then they added postage too. I could have got a single one a few pence cheaper, but I went for the double.

Seems counterintuitive from the start. Wouldn't increasing the humidity make it feel hotter even if it were cooler? Have you tried the hillbilly trick of a disposable cooler with ice water in it and 2 small fans mounted on each end, one blowing in through a hole and one blowing out? I've been told it works.

I think the mister effect is for arid conditions, to help you breathe. However, if you sit with it blowing mist over you, you will get wet and then the breeze from the fan will cool you by evaporating the water off the surface of your skin. Either way, I think it is a gimmick to get the money out of your wallet.

As far as I can tell, it only works if you fill it to the top before you start it. I still think it was a complete waste of money. Of course, now that I bought it, the weather has cooled down anyway. On the day I bought it, I did have it sitting on my desk while I was working on my computer and it was cooling me, but I think a cheap USB fan would have done just as much. The mist might have helped, but I can't honestly say I could tell the difference.

Does it use filter????
@GrandadsOtherChannel
@GrandadsOtherChannel 4 ай бұрын
A filter for what? It has a fan that blows air through it. No filter on that. The water is sucked up into some sort of foam that the piezo ultrasonic mist maker sits on to generate the mist.

Does it serve to cool a kitchen or does it not cool the environment?

The key word in the title is "Mini". It is small. It might cool you a little if you sit it on the table in front of you. It certainly won't cool a room.

@@GrandadsOtherChannel Thank you! Now they sell several fans in Lidl and I need one in the kitchen because that is where the sun heats up the most, I have it in front of the window all day.

I would suggest reading through the comments below to see other people's thoughts. The key word in the title is "Mini". It is small. It might cool you a little if you sit it on the table in front of you. It certainly won't cool a room. As for reliability, I gave it away after a few days so I don't know how long it would keep working. It is just a fan with a misting facility, so it will blow water vapour at you and it has coloured LEDs to light it.

Unusually for me, this is an "on the day" video. I bought it today, filmed it and published it, so I could review it while we still have hot weather. My opinion so far, is that you would sit at your desk in your office, with this blowing mist over you from a couple of feet away. The power cable is 1m which won't reach any power socket anywhere close to my wife's favourite chair, so I will have to add a small extension lead. Now that she has gone to bed, I have put it on the desk next to me while I type this. I don't feel that the mist is making any difference to any cooling effect of the fan. I guess if the air is particularly dry and you have a dry throat, it might help. I am now paranoid about bugs growing in the water and inhaling them in the mist. I will await my wife's review, but so far I think I would have achieved the same level of cooling from a cheap Poundland USB fan sitting on the table next to me, without the worry of airborne microbes in the mist.

@@GrandadsOtherChannel Thanks Grandad, appreciate your response 😊 Don't think I'll bother with one then. Though this was the last day of the heatwave in my area, set to cool down this week, so hopefully that'll be it for this year!

I tend to agree, there are only a few very specific circumstances that this would be useful. It is probably best used as a medical aid for people who need the mist function. As a general purpose air cooler I don't think it is worth having.
