Silver Layer Bullet Feeder for the LEE PRO 6000

Quick video showing the amazing "The Silver Layer LLC" automatic bullet feeder working with the LEE 6000 PRO
progressive reloading press.
(UPDATE: I show a bullet falling through the tube upside down. Once I fine tuned the adjustment knob I've rarely had a bullet
land upside down. Maybe once every 500 rounds. Simple matter to remove it from the case before seating and turn it over...)
The tubing used is available at Lowes...EZ-FLO #98568 Clear Vinyl Tubing 1/2" ID ...5/8" OD.
Be aware, I have not used this unit on anything but 38 and 9mm calibers. You might need to source a smaller tube for 223.....But this size tube should work fine for 40 S&W and 45ACP.

Hello Roy I like your way of showing us how to get things working and especially with me, I have been a framing contractor for 40 years but after my old combat wounds have decided to interrupt my life with cancer and Neurological problems and just lately VA found a brain tumor so I can’t do anything like carpenter work. But I’m still on top of the soil for now 😂 Roy I have the Six pack and I’m having problems with my sliders like where can I purchase the sliders for 308’s or 7.62 x51 these are my favorites that I was buying but now I just want to find something that I like to do but need the sliders or maybe the ones I already have can work if stacked properly but, I have not gotten that combination yet and the sliders that I do have just slide so very easy there’s no force against the spring so what can I do about this young man? I was really surprised when I saw the price! I am thinking about buying one! Even though I have cut down on my shooting a bit thanks to ridiculous primer and powder costs due to all the hazmat fees and junk now that no stores near me seem to carry anything I want to use anymore. I'm probably on a list now because the only efficient ways around the fees is to order a lot at a time lol!

I’ve got the silver slayer bullet and case feeder a 3D case dropper that works what better than Lees and the primer sentry which alarms when no more primers are coming out of the hopper but still 6-7 in the shoot a DAA powder check die. I can do 500rds an hour without rushing and typically only have some type of issue every 250rds or so audible alarms for powder or primer issues. I’m prob under $800 for everything

Fantastic product. Not sure if it is worth the price since it takes me just a few minutes to load up the magazines while watching TV. Then again, time is money...

When you are loading a few hundred cartridges or a few thousand......It easily pays for itself in time......A few dozen cartriges...no bother!

Thanks for the great info. It looks like you're running trail boss. I use it for many loads as well, but it's my understanding that it's no longer available. Do you have any substitutions in mind?

I have enough for at least a year or two....But I just heard that it is going back into production and will be available in February or March.....I still find it here and there and buy it off other reloaders thgat don't use it any longer. I love it because you can't double charge a 38spl as it is so bulky. And it burns clean...

I have the same setup as you but when loading 9mm, the bullets get stuck in the Lee inline die and I have to kinda push the bullets down the die every 4-5 cartridges loaded. Do you run into a similar problem with the bullets getting stuck? Any work arounds?

No problems here....But I only load coated bullets or jacketed. Lubed lead bullets do get stuck and I believe the instructions caution about using them in this bullet feeder. I would think a very slight adjustment to the LEE bullet feeder might resolve your issue. The adjustment is indeed quite sensitive.

@@roybertalotto6355 Yes, Im using hi-tec coated cast lead bullets. Definitely not related to cast lube bullets. Hmmm, I'm wondering if I should have a straight rigid plastic tube leading into the die so the bullets feed in straight before they enter die. Will have to experiment with it. Will also try adjusting the die to see if I can see a difference.

Have you checked the top of the die where the bullets enter it? I had to chamfer the top of mine, the shoulder was pretty blunt. I have other Lee inline dies that needed the same work.

​​​​@@danraup6089Great post. As the video creator stated, getting bullets from an autofeeder to the die is the challenge. I think the clear tubing is brilliant, I ended up using the steel "spring" tube made by the other bullet feeder manufacturer, but it is a hassle of its own. The clear tube would seem to solve the issues with that. I too have 9MM's that "catch" feeding into the bullet die. I am definitely going to try and chamfer that edge in the bullet feed die, as that is exactly where mine hangs up. Which you don't notice until you get a casing without bullet. And it happens more frequently than I care to deal with. FWIW I hose clamped both ends of the bullet feed tube to the feeder and die. Mine was needed because it's steel, but I would suspect the plastic tubing may also benefit from that as that stuff can be fairly rigid and the repetitive movement of the die "plunger" I would expect to eventually work free. But if you don't have that problem, great! Going to go back and look at the video details, was the tube diameter mentioned? Edit: it is; 1/2" ID x 5/8 OD. FWIW I've had no issue feeding 308 bullets in the 9MM tube, but it needs to have the proper feed die of course.

Really enjoy your videos, keep them coming! One question I have is how much of a pain in the ass is it to correct that one bullet which came down upside down in the tube? Did you figure out how to prevent it from happening again?

It happens maybe once in 500 bullets! I just pick it out of the case and turn it around. But I loaded a few upside down and fired them. At under 50' there is zero difference in accuracy, but they leave a real nice hole. Like a wad-cutter
