Found an old batch of 15g relay contacts and decided to quickly recover silver from them. Turned to be at about 20% of the total weight which is not bad! Enjoy the video!

Very good video 👍 I collect relay contact from "old" car starter as I work in a garage where we install them. So far in 3 months I managed to collect 150g of it. I know around 30% of them are full silver instead of silver plating and tiny amount is gold plated. Can't wait to process them cuz I know I'll get a nice little chunky bar out of it 😎

Than you! I've only processed items for gold so far, and I have saved up a good amount of these relay contacts myself. I'll definitely be using this method.

Really good video, very informative thank you. I have some contacts and wanted to know whether to dissolve silver and base metals with just nitric acid and recover with HCL . Your method is much more efficient. Thanks again for the demonstration.

Hi, to be honest I have never had the chance to get truck parts to scrap. If I get such - for sure!

Hi escrap. Watched your video on stripping gold from old watch cases. I am unable to buy Sulphuric 95% in the UK without a licence. Is there another chemical i could use instead. I am restoring 1950s/60s watches that have a thin layer of gold plate left on . I then replate them. I am enjoying your videos.
@escrapchannel Жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately I am not aware of other method to remove gold and preserve the watch case. Some people boil sulphuric acid that is for car batteries until water evaporates and acid concentrates. This is a very dangerous process as fumes are toxic and small drops of acid can harm eyes etc. So, definitely not recommended!

Muraic and bleach there are various videos and ways to remove only the gold.if you want to plate with gold look up electric plating that part is simple. Ps talk to your plumber for sulfuric acid..
@escrapchannel9 ай бұрын
@bobsunkees3392 Hi, muriatic acid and bleach works fine when gold plating is very thin, like RAM fingers, PCB boards gold plating, mobile phone boards, etc. when gold plating is thick like watch cases it will take ages to strip gold, so method is not always perfect. This video is to demonstrate options we have only. I do not dispose acids in the sewage, so no issues.

Test your waist solution for silver, the nitric ate half your silver, aqua Regis was a bad choice for this

Isn't silver at 83.4¢ US per gram. So we're looking at a little over $2.00. Is that right or am I missing something?
@escrapchannel3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right! I am trying to show the truth on scrapping ... A lot at fun but can't make living of it. Any job is better paid per hour :)
@WizardofGOP3 жыл бұрын
@@escrapchannel Huh? I made $65 having a lot of fun tearing apart a motor. Every little extra helps. Going after the silver wasn't worth it financially, but what a great experiment to do with the kids (outdoors with great ventilation, melting stuff is a lot of fun, too). If you turn down $65 and enjoy tearing into things, well, not everybody can handle a broken nail or boo-boo they might get along the way. Beats seeing everything go to the dump, too.

Silver is a lot more than that when you go to actually buy it.
