The ending was realistic. Straight guy tried to assure his friend that there will be opportunities in Toronto and said "see you Thanksgiving", meaning though altered their friendship will withstand this one misstep. It's all good.

I had the same situation just before leaving for school it was an awesome summer with my friend of 12 years and thank God he understood and stated his love for me... but in a different way and that it would be forever and it has been we are still friends talk and hang out often we are like family and we still have that unstated love and we always hug each other good bye, I am blessed.

this kind of happened to me. Fell in love with my best. it was one hell of a long struggle after I told him. He was a palestinian so you can imagine how complicated it was. It took a long time for me to fall out of love and for him to accept my sexuality. We taught each other a lot about mutual tolerance, boundaries and forgiveness. Worth the pain.

I used to be in love with my best friend too and it does hurt when you're in that situation because you feel the despair of knowing you have no chance of winning his heart. My best friend has always been cool about it though, and afterward, when we both went through some painful breakups, he admitted to me that if we COULD be together, we WOULD be together. Hearing him tell me he'd be together with me in a heartbeat if he was gay, made me feel better. We'll be best friends forever, I know it.

when my best friend told me that, i felt so much worse and actually just started hating myself for being born the gender that i was. if only i was a boy, she'd love me this way that i love her. if only she was gay, she'd love me. it's horrible but i'm glad you find comfort in it

Well done! The guy who played Danny had to follow his heart and he took a risk. A big risk. Unfortunately that surprised kiss wasn't in his favor or what he wanted to happen. In short, he got his answer quickly and uprupt. Fortunately, he got the courage to confront the whole situation and move on. Thank goodness their was no loss of the friendship. It had a strong foundation and would remain. Great short film.

Love is strange... I wouldn't want to be neither of them, I cannot imagine the struggle of falling for a near friend who certainly loves you, only not in the way you wish they did. On the other hand, having a best friend who you spent the most of your life with, and then finding out that they felt more than you did and they didn't look at you the way you thought they did all the time (if that makes sense :D), that, in my opinion, is even harder, because you know that you will have to hurt them. Sometimes you just wish you could say those words, but you simply can't :'(

It is called unrequited love and, if the other guy is straight or not interested, it is better to go on and not waste time and tears in the something that is never going to happen.

Bára V I fell inlove with my straight best friend once. He's the first guy that I fell deeply for. He's the reason why I became bi. I confessed my feelings for him but then things turned out differently from the way I expected. He left me in the middle of the road with the rain pouring hard. He disappeared. He never made contact with me since that night. But now that I moved on, I realized that he's not worth it because all these time, all he wanted from me was the benefits. He made me do his homeworks, he always make me pay his bills, he always made me pay our lunch, he took some of my stuff. I'm glad he's out of my life. I'm also glad of the fact that because of him, I found the true me. I'm proud to say that because of that asshole, I'm a complete different person now. Stronger and smarter.

Brilliant film, I can't experess that enough. I recently pointed someone who had difficulties with gay guys towards this film, and told them after watching it to reflect on something, "There are far too many people who don't invite you to thanksgiving, and yet still too many who do" I told him to talk to me if he was still confused after watching it, but have heard nothing since, good or bad, so thank you for so elequantly showing the difficulties coming out to a friend can cause.

I don't think they'll ever be the same. I bet a lot of people watching this have been through this exact situation. It KILLS that moment when your best friend suddenly looks at you as if you're a total stranger, once you tell them how you feel. And I haven't gotten over it yet... and it's been a year. I'm scared to fall in love again. This short film is good because it's realistic - life is heartbreaking, more so for gay men apparently :(

I think it was strongly hinted at... maybe even obvious--that his friend loved him back but was holding it back, for whatever reason (not wanting to be gay, or being afraid of coming out... there can be so many reasons). I mean, he was trying so hard not to cry whenever he thought of the guy leaving, he was sweet and gentle with him after the kiss although he couldn't look at him because he found it painful that he couldn't let on that he felt the same way... Right from the start is flirting behavior--the way he tackled him was like the only kind of way to get physically close to him in a way that was socially acceptable.. and the reason hinted at that he didn't sleep with his girlfriend was because he wasn't attracted to her that way, and maybe even because he couldn't stop thinking of his best friend. I really found this to be a story of mutual love, just one that had a sad ending and was realistic in the way that... there is usually one who has more guts to at least try for it than the other. And that is what we saw here--the one who went for it was the more feminine looking and vulnerable one, and the one who ran away was your stereotypically 'alpha' type male, who probably was desperate to hold onto how everyone saw him that way. Being gay... makes straights assume that you're not 'manly' and a lot of gay men stay in the closet because they just can't take the feeling of being demasculated, emotionally, by the public and their families..

Lovely film about secret passions that suddenly come out and the hardships of leaving all that you know behind. This would be a great feature film too. Mark and Danny would also make a beautiful couple had they hooked up. That was a daring and stupid move 6:23- Danny at least could have had Mark pull over and then kiss him. Ending would have been better if Mark gave Danny a peck on the cheek before he got out of the truck. All in all, the story was good and a sequel would be nice.

I was just hoping on a happy ending. I'm sure there would have been a happy ending if the guy would have admitted that he loved him back. But he just couldn't tell. He was afraid. I'm afraid I'm in the same position right now. Me and my best friend , we just love each other. He knows that I'm gay, and probably that I'm in love, but he just can't admit the same. He's afraid of losing his other friends. But he treats me as a king. He's so kind and sweet. He smiles at me and waves when he says goodbye. I love him soo badly. But nothing happens.. Maybe I should do the same and just kiss him. I don't know. Maybe I just have to tell him , "I love you".

He was surprised and found it a weird idea, but he's totally fine with it and accepts it! He's still really kind to me, and that's special? First it was a bit awkward and I just ignored him, but I think that he missed me, so we started to see each other again. But now it's holliday and didn't see him for a while! But I think everything is fine!! I'm over him and I can go on with my life. It was big relief, but I'm so glad that I have told him! It gets better ! He told me that he was straight, but honestly I still have doubts, but if he says that he is straight , I have no problem with it ! My feelings are almost gone now , so I don't mind. :)

Two French films that I liked are "Just A Question Of Love" and "You'll Get Over It." Beautiful. Frustrating in its realism. So often that's how it goes. One of them says indirectly "I just can't." although you know he wants the same thing. Heartbreaking, and an effective enough reminder of harsh reality that I would have just payed to see a happy ending, I think. It wouldn't be too farfetched... Sometimes it does work out. I would have liked to see it work out, or see some mention of a sequel where there is hope. I can't find fault with anything in the story, and the acting was superb. But it literally left me just shouting angrily and wanting to cry but... ugh, when you're a man those tears are stubborn and they just don't want to come forth unless there is real crisis. I *felt* this though. In my heart. Why?? I am going to watch one where there is happiness, and feel my spirits restored. * sigh * That said, good job with this. It really was superb, and I know it was supposed to leave us with that feeling, and I understand the point it was making. Ultimately, it is good to have stories like this.. that kind of leave you feeling like your true love just kicked you in the gut. Bravo, and much love to all of you who made this.

I completely agree with you, when it happened I felt such anguish deep in my heart. I have been in those situations many times and I felt that all too familiar ache of being denied by the person you care most about. Sadly it is true that it's very real to what life some times does to you, it hits you knocking the air out of you and suddenly you're on your back wondering how the hell you got there. I know that was the point to all of this but I too can't help but wish that it had a good ending, at least a glimmer of hope that there would be something or that something was going to happen between them; I sat here shaking my head in disbelief muttering to myself that it can't end like it did. These people did an amazing job, I give them so many props; they need to continue this stuff cause they are definitely doing something right.

Okay. This is a great film. I really loved it - but it took THAT many people to produce a 13 minute film with two actors and a truck? Are you kidding me?

I was totally blown away by the soundtrack of this short film... especially the ending song This is Not Like Home, it still haunts in my mind sometimes when lonesomeness comes around.. :)

Kinda glad it didn't have a happy ending. Happy endings are so cliche in film. I feel like unhappy endings can be more relatable because realistically, not everyone has a happy ending. Great short film👌🏾

That figures. One of the worst things to do is fall in love with your best friend knowing he can never return the live you want.

This was so well put together, it's not like every other film where its either cliche or complete devastation. It's well filmed, the acting was really good, and the story line was great. Good job man. Thumbs up on this one

Haha. This is hardly a tragic ending. No one dies or gets injured, and they're still friends. And now there's nothing they can't tell each other! I'm sure he'll find someone to be with in Toronto. He'll always have a friend back home. That's not tragic.

Although the film is a gay themed film, and there's a lot being spoken about gay guys being rejected, it's not just them who have to face rejection... As a straight person, I can say that all of us have gone through that... Maybe not outright but by being ignored or avoided.. I hope it makes the gay community feel better.. We're all the same, going through the exact same things! :) Wonderful movie!

Thanks. It's a beautifully composed film, and I wish some people watching it could get that it's about two adolescents, not about Society. Lonely people in isolated locales can often have extreme feelings that don't connect with their day-to-day lives, and besides, virgins fumble. (If the boys started having one passionate night, what would that mean for them both after the brunet's departure?) It's a staple of comedy that the odds usually are against sudden declarations of love, or stolen kisses, leading to anything satisfying. This film reminded me of those teenaged years when you couldn't imagine connecting with anyone, the isolation ran so deep. Thanks again, and bravo!

Even if I had a thing for him, I would have been pissed about being kissed in that situation. The dude was obviously worried about his truck. I think he should had stopped him from driving in the pitch dark and made his pitch.
