I'm not sure when you made this video, but just cleaning out the plug and using dielectric grease is only a temporary fix because the source of the transmission leak is behind the plug and would need to be replaced and they would sell that trans Connector harness that goes in the transmission to fix the problem.. I just did the job myself for my 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500hd

Yes your right. I've had to do the harness replacement on my current Duramax. Don't buy the cheap ones on scamazon either. Get a quality one.

I had issues also. Finally had the service done. The internal filter malfunctioned and blew out the side. It would go into limp mode every once in awhile. Once I replace the filter I never had any issues.

chuckheinch wow, you just made my night sir. I’ve spent all day today stuck in a parking garage staring at a SnapOn scanner going through tests & looking at data etc. It’s done it a few times in the past 10 months if I accelerated hard in first in tune 3 or above. Tomorrow I will definitely be dropping the pan & replacing that filter! You just saved me a lot of time. Thank you!!!

That fixed the problem.

Yes for a few months. The permanent fix is to replace the wire harness connecting to the solenoids.

Did that fix it?

That's why I posted it. This was the fix. I sold the truck shortly after that for an LBZ Duramax which also had the same leak thru the plug. The permanent fix is to replace the internal wire harness. It is acceptable when the pan is dropped. It can be serviced without removing the transmission. Make sure and buy a replacement from a reputable shop though. The cheap harnesses leak again in a matter of weeks.

How did you get that wiring harness off?

They are assembled with a waterproof type grease I believe. My favorite way is to spray them with a penetrating oil then slowly rock them back and forth as you release the plastic pin. Reassemble with dielectric grease.

@@scottdarby7120 cleaning the connector is important. Clean it and release the connector with your finger or a pick or screw driver
