Do you know what the torque specs are for the 2 bolts that go thru the bushings in the middle of the rack and for the botls that go thru the u-bracket on each side.

Jonathan Rodrick for the bolts that go through your frame it’s 100-130ftlbs no less and no more. Bolt that goes to your steering column is 20-30ftlbs. Outer tie rods, you can get away with 60ftlbs but I usually go with 80 to be safe.

Yup. I think they have the same independent set. Only real difference is the 2500 suspension parts are a bit beefier. More resistance on coils and shock assemblies for that bigger motor.

What is a common issue to a bad rack and pinion, I know movement where the bolts to install it go isn’t good but what about when driving? How will my truck drive with a bad rack, symptoms?

Derek Turnbull vibrations, speed wobble or a shaky steering wheel, leaks coming from the rack itself and excessive inner and outer tie rod wear can be a sign of a bad rack and pinion.

I'm getting a strange "pop" noise on my sierra when crank the wheel all the way left, not sure if that was an issue you were having or maybe that's inner tie rod? If anyone knows please help, I cant figure it out! Mahalo

If your truck is 4x4, Sounds like cv axels. They can make a pop while turning if their bad or loose.

I also have a 08 silverado. It wobbles and steering wheel shakes at low 35 mph to 60 mph. But i cant seem to find out what is wrong with it. I have new wheel hub , new inner and outer.

Hmong Muas what kind of tires are you running? Cheap tires or bad balancing can cause steering wobble.

Mine is making noise and I can see it sway back and forth as I turn !! Should I replace it or tighten it up

Brandon Ervin definately have it looked at. It may just be bad end links. Rarely does the whole rack go out, most rack replacements are due to leaks. But it is very possible to break a rack if you do hard off-roading 👍

What size lift you got .. how is it holding up .?

Fidel Cordova I don’t recommend you do it unless you’ve worked on cars for a while and understand how suspension angles work. its a 4.5” I put it in because I was changing out all the suspension components anyway, but you have to buy it piece by piece because i bought parts from all over. But really easy to do. Rough country 2”-4” upper ball joints for Silverado $350.00 ( you need these if you’re going to lift your truck, they prevent tire cupping). 3.5” leveling kit from amazon $120.00 (should come with 2” rear blocks). New front stock struts from 1Aauto $220.00 (make sure you get the ones from 1Aauto because they came with 1” strut caps (which add 1” lift if you leave them on). After install you’ll have a 4.5” lift in the front and it will sit level all the way around.

Whee spacers is why you’re probably replacing your rack. I’m doing the same thing to mine this weekend.. 22x14s don’t play nice on light duty steering components... Nice video though man

Yup. Anything over 18” wheels and youll run into problems on light duty parts. Same thing for the Toyota’s I’ve found.

I like the video and music but please, NOBODY get up under their car with jacks and/or jackstands on gravel or dirt. It's just not safe. I have personally seen a jackstand begin to lean over and the car fall and amazingly my dad held the corner of the car while we got my grandfather out from under the car. I was a miracle he was not injured and looking back, give all the credit to God for no death or injury. I remember seeing the jackstand begin to tilt and my gradfather had no idea what was going on while my dad was holding the corner of the car off him. Be safe yall. Dirt and gravel may not be stable. Still amazing my dad could hold the corner of the station wagon up. He's a small guy.

Yup I dropped a vehicle and another one the jackstand kicked out and the vehicle almost crushed me..I was lucky and was on the side of the car but the car pushed my back and I went falling over..if your working on the vehicle use thick plyboard for the floor jack and use plyboard under the jack stands with 2 inch or thicker green 2x8s and throw a tire under the vehicle

I always throw a tire wheel under my vehicles and a block of wood on top of it .... Extra safety never hurts
