Thanks Mark for the review. Seems like that lid could also be used as a small plate. Years ago when I lived in Alaska all of my meals were made in one pot from ptarmigan stew to bannock and coffee. I did like a bail though as I always cooked over an open fire.

The lid could be used as a plate except for the drain holes. I guess if the meal is dry it would work. Thanks for commenting

Hello Mark, thank you for the recipe and demonstration of this cook set. Always appreciate these cooking videos. While I was watching you cooking, I mused, wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to be on your knees to cook? I can get down to do whatever chore I have to do, but getting back up is getting mighty hard these days. Looking forward to more of your content. Blessings, David.

One benefit of using an alcohol stove, u can cook anywhere, like on a picnic table. Just use some aluminum foil wrapped carbon felt to protect ur wife's precious plastic tablecloth to "Leave No Trace" LoLz 😅

Hi Mark, thank you again for sharing, always of interest, and enjoyable. Perhaps in your feedback to the manufacturer you could suggest a titanium snuffer/regulator, and a 2mm titanium rod trianglar folding stand (made several myself). Oh and ask them to also market the snuffer/regulator as an indipendant item. Good kit though, I shall look it up. Best regards Colin

Right on, the Silver Ant cook kit looks to be of great quality for sure. I really like the alcohol stove too. I still haven’t bought an alcohol stove haha, my homemade stove is just working too well. Great video Mark, really great looking kit and a fantastic meal! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Steve, if you were to ask me about buying an alcohol stove, I would suggest either Trangia or one of its clones. Worth having the simmer feature at the very least. Thanks for commenting my friend

Great review I really like the cook set What makes it special is that it is a saucepan and a sauté pan The fry pan is deep enough to cook a wet sauce and the saucepan wide enough to easily cook a pasta or rice Most cooksets have deep billy cans as the main pot and are very different to cook on Do not like the non-control of the burner I would use a Trangia with the simmer ring on a Triangle Do not like the price Look at the Snow Peak 1000 or 1500 A excellent saucepan and sauté pan I have cooked many meals on all sorts of stoves For much less money

I use methy hydrate, available in hardware stores. It does not have additives that give it colour or causes sooty flames. I have also used denatured alcohol sold in marine supply stores. It works great but is more expensive. I have an older video comparing the two if interested. Thanks for commenting

Thank you. Any thoughts on bioethanol fuel? I know that is available at Canadian tire. I have been using fondue fuel as I"m new to this and it seemed safe. I get a good boil in a few minutes. I'll look for the methyl hydrate. cheers!@@MarkYoungBushcraft

G'day Mark, a more than decent set I'd say and yep with ya mate, like the nesting arrangement, deep pan, dual purpose lid and it's ring pull. NIce addition of the ground plate too, great stuff !!!. I do understand why you'd like to see 5 drainage holes and fair enough too. A step further, I'd like to see a riveted swivel type plate to close 'em up, for when you need/want to retain the most amount of moisture whilst cooking. Re; alcohol stoves, sure pros and cons. As you mentioned, temperature control can be a pain and to be honest I always fear leakage in the pack; so gas and/or solid fuel for me. Forgive my ignorance, perhaps forgetfulness, .....how do you find Ti over a ground fire ? Lov'n that meal mate, I could eat it every day of the week and I reckon pasta and rice dishes are very worthy staples in the outdoors, (assuming you have enough water to sacrifice). And also, that lot is still pretty small and light weight to carry, obliviously even less so ....... once you eat it ; ) MREs have their place, but ................................. Cheers Duke. P.S. yes there's a P.S again ; ) A very traditional Italian chef told me once; add a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of sugar, (depending on quantity), to intense tomato based sauce, to cut through the acidity without compromising it's savory nature. Personally, I've all but given up sugar, and salt for that matter, though there's a coupla valid exceptions to the rule IMO, ..... and this is one of them ....... in moderation, of course ; )

Hi Duke. I find it more of a challenge using titanium over a fire. Best to keep the heat low and the food moving. Heat control and understanding your cookware's idiosyncrasies is true for all metals. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft Yep, I just thought by its very nature it'd be a bit particular, thanks for the reply mate. Btw; I forgot to mention; I did see a bloke cook his fettuccine in his sauce, rather than use water separately, one wouldn't have known the difference in the end. May well suit that quicker to cook brand of pasta you use.

Nice little cook set, but I’m a bit surprised that wind screen wasn’t enough. If I was going to cook a meal like that, I’d use a wire stand with your larger wind screen. That way you could have used the simmer ring more easily. I’m surprised you did all that on one fill up though. I agree bloom time isn’t the biggest issue. To me it’s run time. I find there isn’t enough time for anything more than a quick boil with some of them.

I agree Jim. The post stand is really only good for a quick boil-up. It is also a bit too small in diameter for using these pots on. Thanks for commenting

Mark, what is your favorite frying pan? My titanium products do not allow me to cook over my homemade Supercat stove unless I hold the pan high above it. Putting a tealight candle tin inside the stove minimizes scorching, but doesn't provide enough heat in cold weather.

My true favourite pans are cast iron but not for hiking. I have carbon steel, stainless steel and anododized aluminum and titanium. I tend to use SS and anodized aluminum the most. Thanks for commenting

Hey! I took a break from YT but I must say I missed hearing you. This set looks great! Though I’d like you to look at an alternative. It’s the Widesea Titanium Billy pot 1.3L. There’s no reviews out there on it, and I think it is great value for what it is. The lid can be used with coals on top for baking, unlike this on you’ve got. It also has a hanging handle and a little pouring handle. It was on sale for 18€ and I regret not buying it as it has shot up in price, probably only until Black Friday though. They also have a frying pan thst can nestle with this, but it’s nonstick which I dislike. The pan is 15cm wide and the pot 14cm. Pot’s reference is WSTC-109. They also had the 750ml cup on sale for 15€ but it is sold out.
