For those who were concerned that the other gorillas were not in contact with Nene, here is what the description to this video says: "The gorillas are now able to check on Nene in the basement. They seem to have calmed down compared to before." It also helps Nene to be in contact with the other gorillas as well. Although she is separated from them still to an extent for her own safety, she is able to be closer to them now than she was before, so that's a good thing.

Oh and for those who want to know why the are hooting - Hoot series are individually distinct calls and given by both male and female gorillas when separated from each other. They are calling to reestablish group cohesion.

Nene’s condition has them anxious and thus their appetites have been low. But Shabani has been keeping them calm by example. So hopefully their appetite will improve and gain weight in the process.

I think they are allowing the gorillas the opportunity to see Nene passing away. Its possible the primates need to see this for closure. It's such a shame the zoo isn't being open & honest with their viewers regarding Nene's medical diagnosis and current medical condition.

People will say they looked relax I see they are depressed and their behavior and mental state is very sad. I don't know why the zoo is being so secretive, this is going on way to long. Nene is what 52? her bones will be brittle and muscle mass will be lost. I can see how much weight they have lost, especially shabani.

Other Zoo's around the world allow access to basement area but that is not the point here, let us see she ok let us know how she doing with either CCTV or such, NENE means a great deal to us as much as she means to these animals. She related each of them in some way amazeing. And if she hurting badly do the right thing and send her to that great Jungle in the sky it will hurt us and her current family for while but it will make Nene feel so much better.

The don't seem calmer; at least from the footage shown. Realistically if Nene is unable to recover, and if the troop has never experienced the loss of a member, I hope the zoo staff treats this situation correctly allowing to process grief within the troop's dynamics.

Siento a ver los como que sean familiares en la sala de espera de un hospital mientras estan tratando al paciente con lo nervios ansiedad y preocupación por saber algo del medico que sale para decir como se encuentra el paciente y que le han hecho o va hacer de tratamiento para que se mejore y que van a poder entrar un ratito para visitar el paciente pero no van a poder quedar que ya los diran las horarios de visita eso es lo que siento en verlos asi

Y para ellos aún es peor porque no saben lo que está pasando y nadie les puede informar sobre el estado de nene solo sienten su ausencia y que para ellos es sentir o imaginar lo peor porque en la naturaleza muchos animales cuando sientan que van a morir se alejan de su grupo y a nene le han alejado y viendo que sigue estando viva les da ansiedad por querer estar con ella y poder tocarla me imagino que sicológicamente a nene esto también le tiene que afectar ser apartado de sus seres queridos

Cuando un miembro está débil el resto del grupo puede atacarle y hacerle daño. Eso estaba ocurriendo con Nene en las últimas semanas 😢. Es mejor que ella esté separada, si se rompe un hueso sufrirá mucho.
