I like both generic rounds and bars. I don’t collect any eagles or any constitutional actually. I keep mine incase of hyperinflation, and I feel if we’re in that situation no ones going to care what the collector value is when bartering or trading, only the silver content. And it’s uniform so I can easily figure out what the value of everything is.

Since November I have been on a tear buying Buffalo silver rounds and a 10 oz bar, and I also been buying. 925% and 80% have circulating coins some graded. I also found some Silver Eagles and Maple Leafs. My favorite are Canada 50 cent pieces and Buffalo's!! They feel nice in your ha!

I'm not sure if this is what normally happens, but silver rounds seem to be cheaper as the silver prices drop. ASE coins seem to stay at higher prices as the prices drop. So stacking rounds seem to be better to buy as the prices drop and coins seem to be good to buy when the silver price goes up, because then the rounds come back up in price back to where the coins are.

Being in Oregon you might not have run into this particular advantage of Silver Eagles over Buff's...when you buy eagles you're buying "money"...and there are no taxes on buying "money" HOWEVER if you buy Buff's which are NOT "money"...you (at least in Washington where I live) have to pay (in my case 10.9%) TAX on the purchase. Personally I don't like the large premium placed on Silver Eagles so most of my purchases at my LCS are of constitutional silver; dimes quarters and halves. Premiums are arbitrary and nowhere is it given that you'll get that premium back...so in my opinion it's just "smoke money"...above spot...I don't mind paying a bit over spot, even for junk silver, that's sort of part of the deal and dealers live off that margin; buy a little under spot, sell a bit over spot. I (and you as well I imagine) want to do the same, pay less and sell for more. When I have "let go" of any of my silver it's more often been in a barter situation than at a coin shop...I try to NEVER sell to a coin shop...nothing against them but they are in business to make money off my trade, I know they'll pay me less and charge me more...and that's sort of a "never win" scenario in my book. Concerning the 1099-B...just never sell more than 950 silver rounds to a coin shop. ALWAYS look for that private deal. Everyone has their own particular way of stacking and collecting, there are as many ways to do it as there are people trying to get it done! I like eagles...but don't want to pay "extra for the privilege"

Ask your LCS if they pay any premium over spot for ASE . Then ask does the premium change if each stack of 20 is mixed years or all they same year or if some are culled/minor damage? This is information is for your plan later in life to sell (or sooner if needed) . Do not use your emergency fund for stacking. Having a solid E fund will ensure that you will not be force to sell before you want to or reduce the likelihood of that.

On this issue of generic round vs sovereign coins. Answer depend on what type of stacker you are and your strategy for selling. Just playing the silver value angle only during normal times, then generic is the way to go. If you want the silver value angle, the most recognizable in the world, and most likely to be accepted in shtf times then ASE is the way to go.

HI Neighbor! Make your own 'Ben Franklin' list. (pros and cons) ASE's = "Constitutional" silver = coin + round = better re-sell value "Black Diamond" Bison = 1 oz generic .999 silver = Spot or below re-sell value = Not as recognizable as ASE ASE's win! Stacking is long term just like the 'old' banking savings account. Take some out if you need to. Put some in when you can. - Joey From Seattle

Gray comparison I’d take them both haha. But ASE all the way if they were priced same. Ase has premium! 🐉

Thanks for the video. However you did not give it enough thought. Let’s add a few more variables. What if spot is $50 vs $5? How about in 40 years? Collect ability?

Collector value only has value to the collector. But I can agree with you on the "you did not give it enough thought." part.

I'm not a fan of owning something worth like $25 that declares itself worth $1. If someone inherits it and knows nothing about silver, they might assume they were once worth only a dollar and gladly sell them for anything over that. With the buffalo they'd have to do some research or take it to a coin shop and there's a bit less chance of the ignorant getting taken advantage of. That said, if someone knew nothing about metals or coins, they probably wouldn't expect either to actually sell for $25.

Can you explain how a precious metal coin is backed by the US Govt? What do they back the precious metal coin with? Fiduciary issue?

To me, the main reason to stack a gov back silver coin is that is illegal to reproduced them, it is less likely to buy counterfeit coins I know some of you Americans don’t like the queen but My favorite is the maple leaf coins Cheeper, 9999 silver, just as liquid than the eagle and beautiful.

Let me be the first to apologize for most U.S. citizens being self centered in their false pride. "Merica"! I will how ever point out a couple of flaws in your statement. Govt backed coins are always the most counterfeited. The ASE is the most counterfeited coin in the world. Next, I have nothing against the Queen's face on the Canadian Maple leaf. I actually prefer the Maple over the ASE because of the security features. The last thing would be your "American" label. Are you talking about Canadians, Mexicans or U.S. citizens. This is assuming that you are talking about North America and not South America.

stackn and packn good to see that we are on the same page about the canadian maple leaf(unlikely counterfeit) my apologies,I did not mean to attack US citizens by saying Americans, it’s just that i heard at several occasions « US citizens » saying that they do not purchase the Canadian coin for that reason

@@brunocastonguay6939 No apologies necessary. I was being sarcastic and am embarrassed by most U.S. Citizens being self centered. The term "I am American" is mostly used by U.S. citizens and does not acknowledge there are Canadians and Mexicans in North American.

@SilverDragons I need advice. Just bought some constitutional quarters, but the shop marked up the price royally; $6 face in silver quarters for $96, but it’s valued at $72 in silver. How can a shop have a markup for that?
