Is it just me, or do the colors of the strip appear on the opposite side of what they're supposed to? Seem kind of "mirrored" if you know what I mean? Great video by the way! Ordered mine yesterday, can't wait for it to arrive 😁

Yeah, there’s actually a setting in the app where you can change the orientation of the lightstrip and indicate which side the power cord is on. It will fix that problem. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! They are a lot of fun, I’m sure you’ll love it!

Yeah, that was my bad. You can switch the orientation in the app. I hadn’t enabled that setting for this demonstration. Thanks for paying attention! Lol

I just bought a Apple TV 4K, hue light strips, and sync box. It was working perfectly fine yesterday and now.. nothing. Trying to his start syncing and nothing happens with my lights. Just dimmed down white. Although, I did hook up my PS4 and was working smoothly. Everything is up to date including my sync box. I was thinking maybe it was an HDMI issue..? No. No matter what I try to do my lights doesn’t want to sync with my Apple TV. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on or what to do. I contacted Phillips hue and we were on the phone for 2 hrs trying to troubleshoot this whole entire issue. They offered and gifted me a brand new HDMI cable but idk if that’s gonna fix the issue lol. They also said I should replace the sync box from Amazon, idk. This whole entire thing is frustrating and super annoying. Im a huge fan of Phillips hue and own the play bars and the hue go lights. I’ve been wanting the sync box for a while, so for me to finally get this and not having it work has been a huge / major let down.

New to all this Hue stuff and a new subscriber today. I’m old fashioned and still have a 3D telly. When you pass the 3D signal from e.g. PS3 into the Hue Sync Box, does it exit the sync box with the 3D signal intact? Many thanks for doing step-by-step from scratch - it makes it so much easier to follow.

I wouldn't put the sync box behind the TV as you can control it with a universal remote, like the Logitech Harmony remotes. Which is quite useful.

19:40 It looks like your lights aren't synced up properly, like they're displaying the opposite sides colors... I'm pretty sure if the tv shows red on the left and blue on the right, the lights shouldn't be blue on the left and red on the right. Hope you got it fixed since recording. Have you found the gradient lighting to be less sore on the eyes unlike the previous strips were when looking directly at them? It seems as though the tubing covering the lights help disperse the light more so it blends along the strip better.

You can adjust the orientation in the app. That was easily adjusted after I installed the strip. The brightness didn’t bother me at all.

Can it be that the light strip was mounted in the wrong direction? At the end the green is coming in from the right on the TV but the light strip goes to green on the left side!

Depends on the age of the TV, but most newer models with HDMI will work.

@@GeorgeLangabeer really I was trying all day to get it to work I have a smart tv it has a built in fire stick and when I connected the hdmi directly to the tv it wasn’t syncing on the app it’s said hdmi disconnected so I was confused idk if I’m doing something wrong

It’s a regular Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip, setup through the Hue App.

Yep. You can add it to you “entertainment area”, in the Hue App.

Hello! I’ve since moved out of that shop and I don’t have the Sync Box anymore. So I’m sorry, but I don’t remember my settings. That’s weird about Netflix & Disney +, shouldn’t matter what you’re watching, it should work. Very strange. Sorry to hear you’re having those issues.

Yes. Just leave the Sonos sound bar hooked up directly to your TV. Plug in your other devices to the sync box. Then Your sound will still go through the sound bar for everything.

I used the 75” strips with an 86” tv & it worked fine, you just have to apply them accordingly.

The large percentage of people that are buying the sync box & these lightstrips are in the Hue ecosystem already. The bridge is the least expensive component in the setup. Tech toys can be expensive. It’s simple, If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it.

Well over priced. No good for the latest consoles which use hdmi 2.1, so cannot play gaming at 120fps at 4k. The only way to get 4k 120fps is use 1440p or 1080p. Cannot use smart TV apps. Has to go through Apple TV, streaming box, etc to get apps to work. Also won't do full dolby atmos. It's compressed atmos. Needs eARC. It's only ARC

Yeah, for your specific case, I guess it’s not for you. But I have two & I very much enjoy them. Use them both everyday. As far as Philips being overpriced, you get what you pay for. I’ve tried every alternative out there & I come back to Philips Hue every single time.

@@GeorgeLangabeer I ended up getting the newer govee emmersion kit with light bars, plus 2 lyra lamps which also sync to the lightbars. Most of the time colours are accurate. Placed camera out to 40cm and like philps hue, light spreed and colours much better.. It's a great alternative and till philps come out with an hdmi 2.1 box, govee is the only way to go if you want full dolby, 4k 120fps gaming with freesync. My setup is still cheaper than the philps hue and looks better, it only have light strip, have light bars and 2 lyra corner lamps and all sync with colours onscreen. Foe me works great

I’ve tried Govee & didn’t like them at all. The yellows & greens were terrible. But I’m glad you like yours!

@@GeorgeLangabeer I don't find that at all. Most have saturation and white balance far to high. Saturation in default is to red and so is white balance. Even the reviews on saturation and white balance set to high. Found saturation off and white balance low far more accurate Yellow and green, pretty much perfect. Also I placed my camera out 49cm from bottom and miles better than sticking it on tv Some even use an ND filter improves things 10x
