A note on the affiliate link to the light strip: The page at amazon defaults to showing the 16.4 foot product, which _as-I-type-this_ they sell for $36. The box does not match the box seen in this video. *BUT* that page has a little box to select the 32.8 feet option, and if you click on that then you'll see the box that George reviews here. And that sells for *$40* - a *much* better deal! 🙂 It just now occurs to me that a light-strip might work great in my basement. I don't need the range of colors, but it'd be great to run a strip in between beams to light up a large area while still being out-of-the-way. I also have a tendency to turn on a light by my washer/drier, and then forgetting to turn it off when I'm done. It'd be nice to be able to both check that light and turn it off from upstairs!

Massive HomeKit fan and ‘power user’ here too. I have about 30 smart plugs and I have tried and tested almost every brand going. Meross smart plugs are by far the most unreliable. They constantly drop off my network (which I have completely changed, now using an Asus mesh system, and still have problems) and need rebooting. Even the 4 old non HomeKit Tplink link ones I have integrated using Homebridge are 100 times better. Not tried anything else from Meross though, so maybe their other stuff is great, I don’t know but I’m not risking it. I need a couple more plugs (and plan to replace the Meross) so I’m going to wait for the new TP link Homekit plugs or maybe Switchbot up coming new HK stuff. Eve are very good by overpriced.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear you had a rough go of it with them. I had no problems, but only tested the two plugs for about a week. I’ve tried every brand you can think of & all I can say is that they lived up to the other brands for my testing period.

The smart strip is something I've been wishing for. I'd like to buy buy one product and use it to "smarten" multiple devices instead of buying a smart plug for each device. I went to the Meross store at Amazon, and noticed that they have a 2-in-1 outlet in addition to the mini outlet. It's a little wider than the Wi-Fi Plug Mini, but it provides two smart plugs instead of one. It might be nice to add an affiliate link to that in info section here, although I can understand if you wouldn't want to point to something that you haven't tested yourself.

I've been looking at home security systems for days and can't reach any final conclusions, any advise is greatly appreciated. 1 floor house, preferably no subscription (I'm fine with $10 if that means I can get recording though), trying to stay under $500, would really like 1 doorbell cam, and 1 outdoor camera possibly with a flood light, and then any sort of security system where I can have 2 motion sensors and probably 3 door sensors would cover my whole house. I know local storage is more secure but I'm not all that worried about people hacking my stuff. I've looked at ring, simplisafe, and eufy a good amount, and just glaced at aqara but their website isn't super user-friendly. Basically I want a decent doorbell cam (the new ring wired one looked really solid for the price, yes I know cheaply build but still had decent quality and had was I was looking for) and just anything that would wake me up if somebody broke in so I could defend my humble castle.

I think Eufy would cover all your bases. Aqara is great, but no outdoor cameras unfortunately. Eufy has all the above & you’d be pretty close budget wise.

I love Merooss. I have around 20 of their bulbs all around the house, but I have a problem. I bought four new Meross bulbs and put them in the can lights of the Master bedroom. I have been trying to add them to Homekit for a month now and after about 20 times I still can't get them added! I have reset to the default about 10 times and no matter what. I even added a wifi booster to the room and nothing works. Any ideas?

In reading reviews of some other Meross products, it's suggested that they sometimes have problems if there's a 5-GHz network active. So if you haven't tried this, see if you can turn off your 5-GHz wifi and leave just the 2.4-GHz wifi active. Once you *do* get the devices added to homekit then you can turn the 5-GHz network back on and everything continues to work fine. That's what I've read, at least.

I live in Indianapolis and there's no one I can go to in here for a professional installation other than ADT or NELSON ALARM, I watched one of your videos saying that the best way to protect your home is with surveillance cameras, well I have no idea what to buy, should I try with Nelson Alarm or ADT? Thank You!!!

What if lp saw someone (a vendor for the store not an employee) multiple times stealing in the past (large value) but they were never caught and they need to return to obviously stock their items which they have.... but they don't take anything anymore they just go in and work .. is it most likely they're making a case since they do have ID on them? Would they make a file with the police?
