please dont take this as rude, but please dont use noise cancelling headphones as ppe. noise cancelling headphones like the beats use whats called active noise cancellation, which uses a technique called destructive interference, which is essentially measuring the sound waves outside the headphones and creating and equal but opposite sound wave inside them to cancel it out. in theory, if done perfectly, this wouldnt cause damage to your ears, but because of how they work and the physical limitations of the hardware, they arent perfect, and in some cases can actually damage your ears more while giving you the illusion of safety, as you are now essentially doubling the sound pressure on your eardrums. they can also have difficulty with sharp, sudden noises, like hammer taps. most egregiously, most sounds that would damage your ears wouldnt be able to be replicated by the small speakers of the headphones anyway. they work best for what they are designed for, which is to reduce ambient noise. what you need to actually protect your hearing are proper earmuff hearing protectors. these are like the ugly yellow osha approved muffs you see, they effectively cover and insulate your ear from outside noise passively and will actually protect your ears. if youd still like to listen to music, you can get ones that have bluetooth headphones built in (like 3m worktunes, which are almost half the price of the beats you list in the description), but also have the proper insulation. i know you arent doing anything to be malicious, but its worrying that you not only use beats as ppe, but are recommending noise cancelling headphones intended for listening to music as safety gear on a public video, especially if they assume that beats or other noise cancelling headphones would be appropriate hearing protection for higher sound pressure applications like noisy power tools. the video is overall very good, and i like the emphasis on fume extraction and air quality, because thats something that a lot of people overlook, but please protect you ears properly as well 🥺 i also have a question - when your tool wall is visible (like at 1:30), whats the tool third from the left, between the black handled pliers and the mallet? it looks like 3 wooden wedges, is it some kind of clamp?

Oh wow, thanks for the info! You are correct, noise cancelling headphones like beats aren’t technical hearing protection and only work to help drone out external noise. I wasn’t aware of that, I’ll add a note in my description to correct this. Thank you! That tool you mentioned is a ring clamp.
