I am a dead man, I’m crawling into a trap.
A horizontal response, I'm laying down for you once again.
You've taking what's granted.
I've said goodbye to my friends, I've thrown myself headfirst into this. Close the curtain and strand me.
Found myself lost again, with even more excuses, and even less concern.
Bound and gagged but I enjoy it, you seduce your prisoner before you take your turn.
So lay me down in the field and put me under the trees in the tall grass, where they won’t find me.
Enjoying silence and peace until the sirens they come back screaming, taking me away.
I’ve given all I can give so don’t let me
go back between Woodward and Cass, cracked concrete and broken glass.
This run down block with my name in lights.
Your saving grace, my final rites. 11 Miles from where I was when I conceded my head, embraced my lost control.
Innocence in a state so pure, you hear the demons calling to take back what you stole.
So lay me down in this field and put me under the trees in the tall grass where they won’t find me.
Enjoying silence and peace until the sirens they come back screaming, taking me away.
I lost a piece of myself, and i forgot to slow down and just breathe and it’s scaring me.
I’ve given all I can give so don’t let me go.
I am a dead man and It’s the only way it can end.
I don’t know who’s side I’m on anymore and there’s no starting over.

For anyone concerned, when he mentioned "Woodward and Cass" he's referring to streets in Detroit. It's known as a very poor area. There are abandoned buildings there where "tall grass" grows and they always find bodies there from homeless who go there to sleep in the winter and don't wake up. It's a pretty sad area. Anyone else from Detroit here feel free to add :)

Also from the Detroit area. When he says "11 miles from where I was" I always imagine him traveling up the mile roads for some reason.
@nathanantilla5713

@@AshleyDeaton1230999 His 'name in lights' is referring to the board outside the Fox Theatre, which is between Woodward and Cass. I've been trying to figure out where it is that was so important that was 11 miles away from the theatre, and the best I could come up with is that there's a bunch of recording studios in Royal Oak. Maybe he's referencing recording their first album, and making concessions for the sake of fame?

"This is so generic." Silverstein helped put post hardcore on the map in the early days of the genre. The reason this sounds so generic is because so many bands copied THEIR sound. Silverstein pretty much invented the "generic" post-hardcore sound.

Dear KZbin, I am 21 years old. Have been listening to Silverstein since When Broken Was Easily Fixed. That album dropped in 2003. I have been listening to Silverstein for 12 years in total. I don't give a crap if new kids listen to them. That's just more fans and another generation of a badass band. Stop complaining people. Enjoy the music. If you really knew Silverstein they would see your comments and be extremely disappointed in some fans; you guys know they're like super anti bullying? Yet you have their fans at each others throats because you didn't listen to them when they were underground. Piss off people. Sincerely, A true Silverstein fan.

Silverstein is a living proof that bands don't need to change radically their genre as they grow up. They can still modify many technical components of their music, but the basic musical framework remains the same and still sounds awesome. Silverstein almost never disappoints and although I don't think their last album was their best, I can see that the new one will be way better.

Just before you comment how this is generic, go Google Silverstein's discography, look how far they date back from when When Broken is Easily Fixed was released or even further back like Summer's Stellar Gaze, come back and then listen to the song and shut up and tell me how they're a generic band when they were probably one of the many bands that helped shape what you dudes call "post-hardcore". Rise should actually be honoured to have them on their roster compared to half the crap metalcore they release nowadays. So many great records under their belts, and hoping this one is no different.

I don’t care what anyone says. After 20+ years of their career, Silverstein is one of the few remaining bands, which: 1) still exists without ever breaking up 2) hasn’t gone into pop sound (yes, Silverstein is not exactly the same band as it used to be, but name one band, which hasn’t changed completely over 20+ years of its course. I bet that you’ll not find any bands, which have stayed exactly the same throughout their careers) 3) has most of its original line up 4) still has amazing live performances These are the reasons why Silverstein is still my favorite (number one) band. I’m extremely tired of seeing complaints about their newest albums starting from A Beautiful Place to Drown. YOU CAN’T EXPECT THE BAND TO WRITE SONGS/ALBUMS IN THE SAME STYLE AS THEY’VE BEGUN 20+ YEARS AGO FOREVER! THEY WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND YOU CAN’T BLAME THEM FOR THAT! To be honest, I’m surprised that Silverstein hasn’t decided to try something new for 20 years. JUST PLEASE LET SILVERSTEIN TO BE WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WITH THEIR MUSIC! BE THANKFUL THAT WE STILL HAVE THIS AMAZING BAND!

these guys and bury tomorrow give me hope for music these days when it feels like every business in the media goes straight for our pockets rather than their own artistic capability.

THANK YOU, Silverstein, for being one of the few bands who have remained musically consistent while improving with every single album! I'm so happy you didn't sell out and start producing shitty, generic music. I love this song! Can't wait to hear the rest of the new album! 😀😍💖👍

it's so weird hearing this sound come back, i even hear it in newer bands, us fans of the early 2000's post-hardcore are finally starting bands.

Tim Ramsden this is the Silverstein they have always been. every album seriously keeps getting better. that's one reason why I love them, they don't change their music to get other crowds attention, they are still the old them.

Dear Silverstein, I love you. I don't understand how people are saying this is generic. Silverstein was at the forefront of this "post-hardcore" movement for years. To me bands tend to sound like Silverstein, rather than Silverstein sounding like the others. These guys have been apart of the scene and my world for years. If your going to hate go elsewhere and leave the real fans here to enjoy the music.

Seeing these guys live was fucking incredible, I actually just discovered them because my favorite lesser known local band was opening for them haha . amazing band, they keep playing the same style without getting stale. In fact my two favorite songs by them happen to be "Smashed to pieces" off their first release, and "on brave mountains we conquer" off their latest one. This new song sounds amazing as well. Ladies and gentlemen, this is post hardcore at its finest.
