Silvio, a walking breathing stereotype, is fighting against Italian stereotypes. The satire this show could throw my way and still have it come off as somewhat serious is brilliant.

The irony and hypocritical nature of these characters is fantastic. Silvo, an underboss of an Italian mob (wearing bright gold chains and slicked back black hair, in New Jersey, is sitting in the back of an Italian deli, playing cards with fellow criminals while commenting that something has to be done about Italian stereotypes. It reminds me of the time when Meadow Soprano lectured her mom that she needs to stop relying on someone to give her hand-outs for no reason.

The best part about this episode is that Silvio and the rest of the family act like a bunch of Karens about this entire issue. They spend countless hours lamenting how everyone in modern America is too sensitive, too out of touch with "old school family values" and all the usual buzzwords about things that people often speak highly of and seldom adhere to. While naturally seeing themselves as the proper old-fashioned Italian-American Catholics who idolise the glory days when the mob held sway everywhere. But as soon that some guy says some negative things about Christopher Columbus on TV, Silvio pitches a fit and comes running to Tony to use his position as boss to make the mean man go away. It's basically the mob equivalent of wanting to TALK TO THE MANAGER!
@Vladpryde3 жыл бұрын
@@HellqueenRoz Keep in mind that this was....2009? Just when Obama was getting the ball rolling on this never-ending activism bullshit and permanently dividing this country. What was once a small protest against Christopher Columbus....mind you without any facts, just emotion.......has now turned into hordes of Left-wing Anarchists who are hell-bent on destroying anything that resembles white people, conservative values, and patriotism. In 2009 a few people would protest a Columbus Day Parade. Now they'll show up by the hundreds or thousands and burn down your fucking business and spray paint your house with slogans of hate and graffiti. It's not just the Italians who are victims anymore....it's pretty much 98% of decent, peaceful America.
