Also to love was how Walden blatantly ignored Paulie’s order to pick up the cat. Have to wonder what the _DiMeo/Soprano_ family official hierarchy was at that point.

@@willia3r Yeah, that was weird. There’s a lot of possibilities as to why Walden got away with that: -Walden was a highly respected soldier/killer -Walden knew Paulie for a long time -Walden knew Paulie couldn’t tell Tony/Walden’s Capo about his insubordination without appearing petty. -Walden could be a capo so he have more leeway. Strange as it may be, considering Walden killed Phil. But then again,Gregory Scarpa still went on hits even though he was a capo.

Why would he say no then? Surely it makes more sense for him to say yes, if he knew Tony was getting whacked. Saying no would piss him off and if the attempt failed make Tony suspicious of him. and if the attempt succeeded, he still got everything, whether he says yes or not. I just don't think Paulie had it in him anymore.
@adamkhan9514
@adamkhan9514 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNotSoFakeNews I've thought about this too. Why he says no is pretty straightforward. Towards the end Paulie and Tony despise each other. Tony doesn't really respect paulie as a capo and really the only reason he offers him the job is because everyone else is dead. He expects paulie to jump on his offer beacause its the highest paying racket. Now paulie understands all this. By saying no its like one final "fuck you, stick it up your ass" to the man who never really appreciated his "loyalty." You can see from the clip paulie's reaction only changes when Tony mentions patsy. Now my theory is paulie and patsy had a deal with butch where they split up the rackets between them. Paulie is a greedy fuck and he made sure to get the construction racket. Now if Tony personally gave the operation over to patsy prior to his hit then he might have wanted to keep it, regardless of the deal made with paulie. This is why paulie quickly changes his decision to yes which gives a different meaning to "you always know what to say."

Anthony the tiny details are there if you look hard, New York’s plan was to get rid of tony and Phil the situation had gotten out of control. That’s how the mafia works, they don’t side with one or the other, when two people have a beef that can’t be reconciled, they take both sides out and start fresh. Paulie was to take over the New Jersey outfit after tony was gone and if he didn’t go along he would get whacked too. That’s why Pauli’s acting so strange in the last couple episodes, there was nothing he could do to save tony. If you go back and look at the meeting with New York in that warehouse you can tell the deal had already been made behind Tony’s back.

@@V3rnSqwd5611very interesting theory. the last scene of the sopranos was done in such a way that david chase left many scenarios to the imagination, what a boss director he was. that final scene signaled to me at the ending was that they would never kill a boss in a diner while eating with his family, tony was too dignified for being wasted in such a manner, what i got from the last scene was that he was about to be arrested by the feds, simply because carlo flipped and went into the witness protection program and was about to testify against tony, not to mention agent harris setting him up with the killing of phill, and just maybe they also got paulie to flip, that's why he refused the promotion and had such a long face. maybe we are all thinking the worst, and nothing really happened after all.
