i suggest using a auric chloride solution ( hcl + bleach ) . it would dissolve the gold much more better and quicker . you will want to do just a few at a time , that way they dont stick together and only takes a few seconds for the gold to dissolve . once you pull out the strip , place it on a coffee filter or paper towel . do NOT throw away the paper towel or filter as it will contain some gold from the wet strips . then once you have completed your strips . you can drop and then wash your gold in boling water then boling hcl to insure a much higher gold purity . you NEVER want to drop your gold while the solution is still green in color . the green color means that there is still copper in your solution , which means there will be copper in your gold .

FYI. The gold EMV chips in credit/debit cards can be harvested for gold recovery. But it takes ~9000 of them to get just 1 gram of gold according to the patent. Worth less than $40. So each chip has under 1/2 cent in gold.

I have a suspicion the cost of the chemicals and fuel for heat cost more than the weight of the gold which came out of the product. But proof of concept was achieved. Now to step up to CPU's. There should be a better gold/weight ratio with CPU's. Well done sir. You got some gold without personal injury. I think some important info was left out here. How did you neutralize and dispose of the waste? Many do not have a big chemistry background and that added information could potentially help avoid an environmental disaster even if it's only on a small scale in someone's back yard.

First of all this is copper, not gold. The "golden" contacts of the sim ore actually copper pads plated with gold. When you dissolved those sims with HCL you got green water full of copper cloride. Water with dissolved gold appears goldish-yellowish. The precipitation is correct but also precipitated copper so the last metal bead you obtained is almost pure copper. If you want to get an estimation based on the dimensions of those sim pads i can give you copper weigh for a sqared foot pcb foil: 2 ounces. Do the math and dont be surprised of the result.

I'm so confused and I don't get it...Do you mean 0.700Kg as Kilogram instead g as gram? And is that gold weighed 0.11g as gram instead of mg as milligram at the end? Because it doesn't make any sense if your beaker has more than a hundred Sim Cards and it only weighs 0.700g which is 700mg... I believe you left most of the gold ib form of bonding wires in the back of that chip, encapsulated in plastic. So your acid did not touch those. You may want to shred them to get to them.
