it's kind of funny, but I think at times there is a ridiculous amount of useless talking making these videos way way way longer than necessary, but then again, it is probably a good assumption to think most watching are going to be absolute morons, so maybe it is for them.

Barry, 2 years after you made this video, I bought this rig *because* of your video. That's the power of SRG, Sim Lab's reputation, your endorsement and the KZbin algo. Knowing I could build this with all your tips, experience, thorough insight and explanations, that was the deciding factor vs the other 10 rigs on my shortlist! Thank you!

i got the GT1 Evo since september and love it. it's compact and doesn't take up much space. I added the integrated monitor mount (it's rock solid! using it with an LG 34" 21:9 curved monitor when I'm not playing in VR) and keyboard holder, additional mounting point etc absolutely love this thing, especially for this price point. Using a Simucube MiGE with it, very sturdy rig.

@Barry many thanks for making this video - I was a true life saver this weekend when I put together my GT1 Evo rig. I have 10 thumps on my hands but your perfectly detailed walkthrough brought me through. I would advise against one thing you did though: do not slide the wheel support 'legs' back and forth on the base frame when adjusting. I made some nasty scratches on the base frame by doing so.

Yes, you have to take all the weight off the bolts when you do that. If you got a black one, use this to fix the scratches: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JCW2CG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Only thing my wheel deck alignment was not as smooth as this one, the 90degree angle pieces were more like 100degrees, i had to put tremendous force to get them to screw in to the extrusion and then force the deck into the adapter piece, it's n there solid but under very heavy stress.

I’m interested to hear your finding on this since I bought a silver GT1 Evo in September. I found that the wheel uprights were too short for me (I’m 6’1”) and I couldn’t get the pedals high enough for the seating position I wanted. In the end I worked with Sim-Lab to get a set of longer uprights (90mm longer) which made a huge difference. I put the original wheel uprights where the pedal uprights are, moved the pedal uprights to support the front of the pedal deck and moved the wheel mount assembly closer to me for a much more comfortable and realistic driving position.

Great detailed review. Subbed!! Im debating on p1, gt1 (out of stock) and gt1 evo. My set up is all fanatec. Clubsport v2.5 Shifter sq Csl elite pedal w LC Handbreak. Which cockpit would you suggest? I know p1 is very rigid and know it'll hold my setup without any movements. But, will gt1 evo do the job for my equipment? Will there be any flex with clubsport v2.5 ffb? And will the shifter mount have flex? Thanks in advance.
@simracinggarage3026
@simracinggarage3026 5 жыл бұрын
The only concern I would have is the shifter mount flex. I do discuss this in the video. To make the shifter mount more solid I would add another piece of profile that would attach the top profile used for the shifter to the bottom profile used for the base of the cockpit. Other than that, I think the evo would do a good job for you.

watch many of your videos, awesome job, was wondering what is your current best recommendation on a system? I like the P1 x chassis w sparco seat, i like the new pedals you just reviewed, steering wheel, still unsure, been sim racing for about 10 years g27, g29, any help would be appreciated, I don't have to stick to a budget, but don't think I would use 30nm on a wheel ever, so leo bodnam wheel seems a little excessive, but... you really like them, look forward to some advice, cheers Dan

I don't know the specs. I would contact the profile manufacturer if you need that info.

Looking at getting this cockpit, but since im also planning to get HE Sim pedals sprint, i need to know if this pedal base plate will support them? I know they support the pro's but i believe the sprints have a smaller footprint.

The Sprint Pedals should fit. They have 69.5mm centers in the mounting slots front to back. The Pedal Plate has 70mm and 100mm centers on the available slots front to back.

With shipping, import taxes, additional taxes, handling import fees, plus the exchange rate make this well over 1400$ for me. I think I will build my own.

Can I slide the Wheelbase Frame Assembly down lower since I have a shorter seat? Or is that not a good idea?

Yes. Should not be a problem.

Has anyone tried with smaller T-slot panels? I'm wondering if 30x60mm would do?

I purchased this recently and all my brackets are plastic NOT metal/steel/aluminum. Has anyone else experienced this? Very disappointing.
