It looks like it has quite a bit of power. I still do a bit of arc welding. My Mig is setup for the smaller thicknesses, so I pull out the good old Young stick welder when I need to weld thicker steel.

Generally I tend to look at MIG a for being for thinner metals and arc being easier for the thick stuff which is roughly what you said! I will be doing TIG next followed by MIG. (Picking up MIG gas tomorrow). Many thanks for watching!

Very good welder Ben. Nice easy start strick up to by the looks of it. You'll have fun tuning it up for MIG. Always fun. You can get flux core mig wire if you don't want to use gas sometimes or are mig welding outdoors. Its a strong weld but is smokey and needs a lot of cleaning up after with a wire brush as it's slaggy. Handy option though. Can't wait to see more vids on it

I do have a couple of spools of flux cored MIG wire from Lidl, but even the thought of using it makes me feel a little dirty... I will be picking up a bottle of Argon CO2 mix hopefully later today. I have done a fair bit of MIG but the controls have always been a bit more limited than this. Many thanks for watching!

Nicely done Ben great Demo.But I do wonder if all those super capacitors and electronics will stand the test of time compared to the 50 year old buzz box I still use ?

We stick weld most our stuff here in American in Electrode + ground -.

Looks a capable machine i dont do much arc welding these days. I like the welder am not much cope at it even though av been doing it for year's only car mot work sills inner wings that kind of stuff. 👍

I'm a bit behind on my viewing Ben, only just got round to this one.... Looks like it welds nicely as a stick/arc/MMA, which I guess you'd hope that it did - I bet most casual welders (and I'd include myself in that description) will set the hot start and arc force once and then never touch those settings again.

They probably would, and that is mostly fine. Cheaper welders have that set permenently. It does occur to me that the case for changing it can be made with thin steel where you probably want it to be zero for both. Many thanks for watching!

@@BensWorkshop Good point, I guess many people just take it as "you can't weld thin stuff with stick welding" and either give up or turn to MIG TIG or get someone else to do it.

It is going to be tricky no matter what but I expect it will make life easier. It is still tricky to MIG and TIG very thin stuff.
