Just wanted to follow up, and say they have been amazing. Ordered them in the July 2022 order and got them in Aug 2022. They have been incredible, and everything about them is excellent. They aren't $330 in the US, closer to $525 after shipping. (It's like 30lbs of steel being mailed to you!) But, even at that price they are still a fantastic deal and near unbeatable at the cost. Other than going up another $100 and getting Husk Sprints, there really is no comparison.

@@HugoWheelieboy5 Can't fault the pedals at all. The electronics work and the hardware hasn't failed on me. Everything is very solid. I run motion and a DD1 and have not had any issues with interference. The 80KG LC is plenty for me and the pedal setup out of the box felt fine. I don't have a lot of experience with other pedals other than cheap entry level, but I would say these were definitely worth the price.

You can't judge the effect of filtering by determining the resolution range. The filtering would be done on the input signal, while the resolution is determined by its output. By filtering you lose precision because the amplitude is less extreme. Calculating the output step range gives as much information as saying that both an 8-bit and 16bit interface have a 0-100 percentage range. The 0-100 range is the same for both interfaces, but one has more precision than the other. Both only say something about the output signal, it has no relevance on the input signal that is filtered by some logic. The PIC processor is a simple microprocessor and only has a very basic instruction set. That makes me believe the filtering is done between the ad converters and the microprocessor. The simplest filtering is just a divide,round,multiple instruction. Let's say you have a input value of 10012. A simple filter would divide 10012 by 10 = 1001.2, round it (1001.0) and then multiply it with 10 to get 10010. Any raw value between 10006 and 10014 (inclusive) would result in an output of 10010. Filter ranges 0-5 just change the number of the filter and it doesn't change the resolution range itself, but more the sensitivity (the range is more of a block form than a thru linear range). Usually odd numbers are used for the dividers (seems more 'random' to people) like 1, 3, 6, 7, 9 and 13 for example. Value of 1 would disable any filtering. Also if you want to avoid EMI interference you need more than just input filtering because the cord of the pedal will pickup way more interference from magnetic fields than any circuit board on it self. The easiest way to avoid interference is a shortening the cable length as much as possible and to use a shielded cable.

@@runofthemillz I have the Sprints and I'm very pleased with them. Especially the adjustability is of the charts. You can make the brake as stiff or as soft as you like, same goes for travel. The throttle is very good too. Clutch same. The build quality, software, packaging, supplied tools is all top notch. My previous pedals were Fanatec CSR load cell and CSL loadcell (those were terrible IMO). The Sprints feel like another league entirely. Highly recommend them over the v3's.

Filtering should not affect signal range/resolution; it should affect responsiveness (how quickly pedal changes are registered).
@ormpoa
@ormpoa Жыл бұрын
Consider filtering more like a treble tone control than a volume control, reducing sensitivity to higher frequency changes. FWIW, notice the angle on Barry's throttle spring; it should be adjusted to be more perpendicular to throttle movement for better linearity at full throttle. That HX711 board is optimized for load cells and used e.g. in many digital scales.

Simforge Mark-1's are Fanatec Killers and Heusinveld Challengers. They're definitely superior to V3's and Sprints . On par with the Ultimates. Had to sell most of my gear during the lockdown and it was no brainer which pedals I wanted to go for to get back into sim racing. In some features they exceed the Ultimates. The adjustability in the Foot rest is superb . Makes them more comfortable to use in long stints. I've been using these for almost 4 months now. I'm am more consistent in my lap times with these than they were with my previous pedals. The Brake feel is good. Really Good. I rarely lockup anymore. Driving in and out of corners is a smooth . Kudos to their customer support guy Sachin . They reply within minutes . I had few questions about the calibration which I emailed them on a Sunday evening thinking I'll be getting the reply the next day and got the reply in like 10 minutes. To every email that followed , the reply was within 10 minutes. Literally the fastest customer support I've experienced. Highly Recommended. As always nice review Barry. All hail the sim racing Jesus.

I find it curious that Barry is impressed by the electronics. They only use two of the four available channels of the ADS1115 A/D converter (mounted on a long-legged (think antennas) riser board!) and then introduce another chip with integrated amplifier and A/D converter to "save an amplifying circuit and combat RFI/EMI?" It's a wasteful design and it looks like an amateur beginner project. Usually for RFI/EMI mitigation you'd use the shortest possible traces and wires on your circuit, shield the circuit board, and use passive filters on the wires connected to the outside.
@blekenbleu
@blekenbleu 2 жыл бұрын
HX711 is the standard board used in many digital scales, dirt cheap and custom designed for load cell bridge circuits. Not "reinventing the wheel" is good engineering economics.

I just cancelled my v3 pedals order for there. I don't have clue about feeling between them but I'm telling you that they look better in my opinion, and most important is the adjustability that you can do with them, like mounting them inverted wouldn't be as hard as on the v3. Surely buying these instead of the v3. Simforge support answers quickly and they care about their product, I'm honestly impressed.

These electronics look so horribly designed I wouldn’t buy these pedals no matter how good a deal they are. Man I could spin up a board that’s more EMI compliant and more professional looking in a day, and they seriously sell this in a product?? Using leaded components is a horrible idea if you have EMI problems, not even talking about using cheap modules.. and it looks freaking horrible. Simforge, contact me and I’ll design you a new board in exchange for a set or two of pedals.
